C5 vs C6

My 2005 coupe is my first-ever Corvette so I can't compare it to the C5. What I can tell you, though, is that it's my first American-built car in 20 years, coming out of Audi A6s (2), a VW GTI, and 2 Volvos. As far as the power train (with manual transmission) and suspension (mine's a Z51) go, the C6 holds its own against anything I've experienced. It's not as silky-smooth as V8s from M-B or Lexus (especially at idle) but IMO that's a good thing; a little "edge" is wholly appropriate in this type of machine.
If there's a weak spot, it's with a few of the interior pieces. As a whole, the interior is very good; with nav, heated seats, HUD, power-telescoping wheel, HomeLink, and what's IMO the best instrument cluster in the industry, the C6 owes few apologies. Still, I'd gladly pay a few additional bucks for higher-grade leather (and full leather on the seats) and brushed metal for the trim pieces on the center console and around the push buttons flanking the instruments rather than the silver plastic. Other than that, I have no complaints about my 1SB (now called 3LT) interior. Keep in mind that these are words coming from a guy whose 2 most recent cars before the Corvette were recent-model Audi A6s; Audi is highly regarded as a leader in the industry when it comes to interior quality.
