What kind of enclosed car trailers are people using ?

Brand? Model? Size? Features?

Thanks for any information you can help me with.

Well, I guess I can answer this partially. You have to figure your usage. I have owned short and long open trailers - with ramps and hydraullic tilt bed. I have also owned enclosed trailers. I have used them in racing, for my show cars and transporting vehicles for friends. I would say this. You want a wide body first and foremost, torsion bar suspension, brakes on both axles (electric) not surge, 10 ply radial tires and electric tongue jack. Aluminum are expensive, but pull better in my opinion and certainly the weight difference affects mileage. Tommy Trailers makes one that is canvas covered with an areo nose. Provides easy access to the car and can be taken down to use as open trailer if desired. Don't advertise whats inside. Open trailers are often an invitation to thieves. Make sure the trailer is long enough to accomodate the longest car you will pull and if racing then figure in your cabinets, gen rack, tire storage and so on. Hardwalls often leave you with the door in the wrong place for access to the car so you have to crawl in and out the window. Lastly have plenty of tie downs in floor and walls and good lighting inside and out. Do some web searching and design what you want. Cargo mate, Wells Cargo, Haulmark and Pace pretty much follow the same design so it's what you want built that ultimately makes the difference. If you are just local hauling then go cheap, but when I am pulling 3-4000 miles at a pop and through the mountains, I wanted a quality rig behind me. Best Wishes

I sold my 20' enclosed 04 Continental Cargo last year for $6800, 8.5' wide, dovetail and infloor storage. Great size to tow. Before that I had an 18' open trailer. Didn't take long to dump that one, to much of a chance for vehicle damage.

Default Triple B trailer

I took the custom enclosed trailer route. I had a C4 custom with very low ground clearance. I Found Triple B trailers - near St. Louis. I am near Cleveland Oh. He had me take specific measurements of the car at different points. This was so he could place the side door so I could open it fully (only 8 1/2" high inner wheel wells - notice how they are rounded and finished), and get up the ramp without ripping off my spoiler. I ordered around Nov. and received in April - I told him I was not in a hurry. He delivered to my door.

This is a 20' by 8 1/2' wide x 6' 6" interior height. This is a smooth wall (no rivets) and includes a wall mount for the spare tire (some have under floor locations which means you need to remove the car to get to it), a full size Interstate battery to run the breakaway switch, 4 ceiling lights, 2 in-floor lights, and painted plywood floor (deck paint). I did not order the interior kit to keep the trailer lightweight - about 2900 lbs. (some are around 4,000 lbs. with all the plywood walls, etc.). I did order aluminum wheels. My ramps are hinged "anti-slip ladder style" and in addition to the door height, they extend easily to add another 9 feet, for a total ramp/door length of about 15 ft.

I have towed it with both 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks, and recommend the 3/4 ton extended cab at a minimum... you don't even know it's back there... But of course, you need to do it right - get a weight distributing hitch and anti-sway controller....Low maintenance too - I just repack the wheel bearings every season and it runs forever !

I have hauled C3, C4, C5, and C6 Vettes and all fit perfectly.... I'm sure the older Vettes will also since this is built for low ground clearance vehicles already.

I have had this trailer for 6 years, and I love it. I highly recommend Triple B. Here are a few pics.
