Help with '05 vs. '06 C6 differences
I've been narrowing my search to '06 cars for one major reason, the rear diff. I hear for '06 it was made stronger. Other than that and the shift **** on the '05 A4's and the '06 A6's...what is different and should I pay extra for the '06? Is it worth it? '05 I'm looking at is listing for $40k (I'm going to offer $37,900?) and the '06's are going for $41,900+. The good thing about this '05 is that it's within a 2 hour drive.
Compare the '06 3LT package to the '05 comparable package.
The '05 I'm looking at has the upgraded rotors, heated seats, no nav, A4, and heads up. What package is this and it it what compares to the 3LT?
Thank you in advance for your help. If it is worth the savings, I don't want to miss out on this car.
1)steering wheel
2) satelite antennas in the mirrors
3)rear beefed up
4) more money
5)I forget the rest!!

And before anyone starts with DBS being impossible in anything other than an '05 manual

"Some clarification is needed here. When DBS was in it's early definition stages it was widely believed to be limited to '05 manual transmission cars. It wasn't long before that was proven to be false, and that automatics were also involved, as well as '06 cars."

"GM has released two documents to dealers regarding DBS (Dead Battery Syndrome) software updates to the BCM/ECM. PIC4188A pertains to 2005 cars and PIC4188B pertains to 2006 cars. "

Great information guys! It sounds like they were minor changes, well, except for the strengthened rear. Does anyone know if the '05 rear is the same as the C5's? My C5 rear was holding over 510rwhp with 1.58 60's.
Is the F55 software upgrade in regards to the NAV?
Can you disable the passenger air bag like you could in the C5's?

1SB package is the HUD package
A-4 4spd. trans is a proven heavy duty transmission (A-6 Jury is still out on this tranny).
Stereo system on 2006 is suppose to be better than 2005.

There is no switch that you can use to disable the passenger airbag in the 06.
Not all '06 and up NAV units will play MP3s either. One has to first turn it on and insert an MP3 disc into it.
Thats like saying that not all XM equipped head units will play all XM programming. In the strictest sense, that is 100% correct. However the simple act of subscribing to XM should fix those units which do not.
Likewise, as it relates to MP3s and '05 NAV units, they all will play MP3s with a simple update which can be done in less than 30 minutes' time either by yourself or by any dealer. And thats iff it hasn't already been done by the previous owner or dealer. .
Thus all '05 NAVs will indeed play MP3s, or in other words, have MP3 capability, but some will need the 30 minute programming update first to unlock this capability. Indeed, a few '05s were discovered to be capable of playing MP3s right off the dealer lot and without needing the update.

Other than that stereos on nav-equipped cars can play MP3s without having to update the software, there were no changes in audio systems from 2005 to 2006.
