Default Side Cove Screen Inserts

Looking for some guidance. Have an 02 Sliver Contertible. I know that the kids are going to ask me about a Christmas Gift.

Anyone have any experience with the Side Cove Screen Inserts (GM's official name). These are the stainless steel or what ever that fit in the exterior of the doors.

Are they difficult to install? Any problems with them becoming loose and falling in or out? Any suggestions as to where I should look for them?

Your suggestions will be appreciated. Will check back in a day or so.

Thanks

Ron

Did you intend to post this in the C5 Section?

I don't have any experience with the GM inserts, but I purchased the "Racemesh" product from Todd @ East coast Corvettes. They fit well and were not difficult to install. The first one is a PITA, but you learn all of the things you dont need to do so the second is easier.

They sell a black version that I think would look great against your silver. They also sell a matching front screen that is a real quality product.

When you install, keep in mind that the top, bottom, and exterior side are the only points that need adhesion. The body near the vent flexes when washed etc, so not attaching to the interior side allows for that flex.

Thanks for the feedback, I will continue to look into it. Must admit, I never thought of Black.

I got the stainless steel mesh (not GM) that cost a whole lot less. The process for installing them and the other inserts did not work for me.

They come with a white double sided tape that did not even come close to working. There are threads on this issue and a number of good solutions. I think mine was the best.

$2.00 of 1" wide tape velcro from REI. Not only is there no way they will come off, you have all the time and flexibility to get a perfect fit.

THanks, being new to this, how do I locate the past threads on the topic? How would they be listed?
