Default Wheel Offset

Was at a new car show in Charlotte today and saw a set of BBS RSGT wheels that I thought would look great on my C6. Just don't quite understand the offset. They are 54mm on the front and 75mm on the rear. Does anyone know what the offset is on the stock wheels? I don't want it to be any different. Also, I was told the higher the number the further in the wheel actually is. If anyone has BBS on their car a photo would be nice. Thanks.

I have read on this forum that the stock wheel offsets are:
Front - 56mm
Rear - 79mm

You also need to look at the width of the wheel to be sure to get the proper offset. For example, a 79mm offset on new rear wheels that are 11" wide (compared to OEM 10") wouldn't be correct, you'd need a larger offset to make sure the tires didn't rub on the inside of the well.

Click here to see a good explanation.

Thanks guys. That helps a lot. Never thought anything about the width of the rim.
