Anyone have any ideas to keep the rain on the outside of the car? I smoke and it's the same as opening the car door in the rain except it's all the time, you can't crack the window without getting wet. I don't drive the car with the top off and don't want to make permanent modifications. Thanks!
I wish I could help. I'm a smoker too but NEVER in the Vette or any other vehicle for that matter. When I bought my first new car many years ago I told myself I wouldn't do it and never did. Too bad that didn't work for the smoking in general.
Think about the savings in dollars, trade in value, health problems, kissing breath, clothes cleaning, scratchy eyes, damage to pants and other things from ash droppings. Sound like somebody who used to smoke? 4-5 packs a day and I give Thanks for everyday I have been back in control of my own life.
PS: at my rate you can quit and afford another Vette.
OK, let's adjust the course of this thread a little and see if we can't make something productive from it.
I have a lot of gas. When I drive in the rain, my whole left side gets wet when I crack the window to let out the noxious fumes. Is there anything available for our cars that will act as a drip rail and keep the rain on the outside of the car?

I dont smoke or fart or burp etc. etc. in my Vette but I do like to keep the window partially open to hear what's going on ouside along with hearing my Corsa Sports rain or shine. So yes, like the thread started as, is there anything available for our cars that will act as a drip rail and keep the rain on the outside of the car?

The only place you really need something is at the seam where the top meets the windshield header. That's the point where the car pees on your leg when you crack the window or open the door. The best solution I've come up with is to stick a bit of plasticine (modeling clay) up there when it is raining. That dams the flow. Its ugly up close, like a wad of bubble gum, but it is removable in a moment without harming the paint, so once it stops raining, you can pull it off and save it for another rainy day.
The only other semi-reasonable alternative I've found is plastic rain gutter molding from JC Whitney. This is a small U shaped plastic strip, similar to what cars of the 60s came with from the factory, though those gutters were actual chromed metal. But it is more permanent, makes removing the top essentially impossible since to be effective it has to bridge the seam, and frankly isn't that attractive as something you want permanently attached to the car.
What I do in the rain when I want some fresh air is just drop the window around 1/4", maybe a bit less. It's enough to pull air out of the window while keeping the drips rolling down the outside of the window. Just watch out for those slow right hand turns from a stoplight, they can be bad before you get the car up to speed.
