The 06 Nav manual is wrong ... regarding “how to enter a phone number.”
Entering the phone number of your destination is much easier than an
entire address, one digit at a time, etc.
BUT, finding the window to enter the phone number was the problem!
On page 2-24 in the Nav manual, it shows an icon of a phone, which is supposed to be in the “Enter Destination” window. But, it’s not there!
So, how DO you find the place to enter the phone number? Kent Eismann,
who owns a great vette shop in Jupiter - and does all my work - told me
about it today:
a) Menu
b) Enter Destination
c) Hit the little arrow at the top of the page. The one just LEFT of the 1/2.
d) Up pops the phone number blank
Just wondering .. you 07 owners .. has this been corrected in your manual?

The 1/2 to the right of the arrow means page one of two. When you press the arrow it takes you to 2/2 or page two of two. So it is in fact on the Enter Destination page just not the first one.

I use it all the time, I just wish the database contained private residence/individual phone numbers since I have all that stored in my cell phone but I don't have any addresses.
I had a hard time when I was traveling back home last month and I kept mis-entering the street name. The street name IS West Villard Avenue but the Nav database wants W. Villard Ave, the W. threw me.
Silly but annoying at 10 pm on a Sunday night and I was still about an hour from my destination.
I found page two on my 07's screen right away. The telephone entry feature is awesome. I wish it would work for private numbers too, but it would probably require a massive amount of memory or something.

Been there, done that.
What seems to work, sometimes, is-
First, enter the city
Second, enter the street name WITHOUT any West or W, just "Villard Ave"
Then, the nav will sometimes pop up two choices:
W. Villard Ave
E. Villard Ave
You click on the one you want, and then enter the address number.
It seems like this technique works frequently, but not always. Anyone please post your results for the rest of us.
Entering the phone number as a destination works great when you’re on vacation out of your home area.
When I was down in Williamsburg, VA this past summer nearly every tourist attraction and restaurant was in the NAV system.
We had a bunch of tour guides and books in the condo and once we decided where to go that day I just entered the phone # and off we went.
Glad I decided to spend the extra bucks on the NAV system.

Exactly - besides the phone # feature, which I usually forget to implement :o , it's much easier entering the city first rather than the street name, thus cutting down on the database of names (is it Oak St, Rd, Ave, Blvd, Pl, Ln, Cir, Sq etc etc ).
They should have it set up to enter the city first rather than having to go to that screen, as well as having the phone # be a "first page" option.
Oh another trick if you need to find an obscure location (worked great for a Club meet at a park in Pennsylvania that wasn't in the database ) - get Google Earth on your computer and find the location, copy down the GPS coordinates, and plug 'em in .
