Default Traction Control

I have had my 07C6M6 now for 2 months or so and it is my daily driver. I love the car it is just a blast to drive. My question is regarding the traction control. How many of you guys drive the car with the TC off, or do you just turn it off at the track? During the past 2 months I have not even considered turning off the TC to me it is a safety issue having the computer to bail out my driving skills.

Thanks

You are right. Turning TC off is not a good idea on the street. There have been reports here from those who have suffered some pretty tough consequences as a result.

Well it got down to about 30 last night. Snow is melting but ice in the morning. Unless at the track everything stays on.

I agree with the response of the other folks. Keep it on. My last 5 cars have had it on them and the system truly does work.

I use Competitive Driving mode (TC off, AH relaxed) for normal dry street driving. At the first hint of rain, sand, etc I turn it all back on. But you've GOT to respect that throttle, my previous Camaros were good teachers.

Jim,

You use CD mode for what reason on the street? Does it allow tire spin, give a better feel for the road, etc.

Thanks

No reason to turn it off on street. I leave it on for street and autocross.

I use Competitive Driving mode most of the time unless the weather is bad then I keep everything on. With the traction control on if you hit the gas hard you don't go to far that would be my reason.

My reasons, may not be useful for anyone else:
Don't want TC cutting my power if i need it in a hurry. Of course, wheelspin doesn't get you going very good either but TC seems to cut way back on the power and keep it cut back longer than needed.
Lets me light up the tires for that once-a-month mad moment.
Some folks say Compet Driving helps the A6 shift more quickly (?)
AH will let me slide the car a little in those rare occasions when I can do so safely.

If you leave everything on for normal driving, I'd never criticize that.
Enjoy!

I was told by the guys at the museum when I took delivery that there have been incidents outside the museum with those who 'knew' how to drive and turned it off. They strongly advise to leave it on....

I am not even sure that I will turn it off after I attend the driving school at Spring Mountain..

I drive with TC off or in competitive mode. Leave the AH on and it will bail you out if you need it to. I have needed it several times and it is great.

I agree, TC has saved me a couple of times in the rain.

Saved my rear big time when it was new and I didn't realize how much tq was available in third gear coming out of a tight high speed corner. Punched to hard and swung the rearend out big time. That system staightened me out so fast and perfect I couldn't believe it. I actually thought it was an instinct reaction on my part until I remembered that the engine cut power momentarily and that I had not lifted like that.

I use mine exactly the same way.... but would never fault anyone that runs with it on. My wife drives the car and would never take it off because I would have to kill her... JUST KIDDING!!

Around town I always leave everything on. At the track I used to run with everything off. Then I made a run after someone broke, lifted, got a little sideways and now I use competitive driving mode.

Our runflats really suck in the cold and the Z51 tires can be a bear in bad weather. My stock base automatic will light the rear tires up from a roll and get a little tire spin on the first to second shift with everything on when it is lower than forty degrees outside.

The traction control and active handling are really great but they will not negate the laws of physics.....be careful out there
