Default Calling all Pilots

When the national speed limit was reduced to 55 during the first oil crisis, I was stopped by a Florida highway patrolman for travelling at the "old" limit. He approached my car, and asked to see my pilot's license because I was travelling "so fast". I put away my driver's license, and reached into my wallet for my pilot's license. I showed it to him. His response was: Damn, I knew somebody would do that to me one day. I have to get a new line." He let me go with a laugh and a warning.

Which brings me to the subject of this poll. How many of us fly in the sky as well as on the road? Please answer the poll.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Sorry to omit military and students. I will try to fix it. Nope. Can't. New poll coming.

Also looking for a flying job in central Ohio if anyone has any leads. I'm ready to retire from the police department and fly for a living or should I say a retirement job. Thanks for any leads.

I learned to fly in College back in the 70's, flew my Dad's Comanche and then his F33A for a while until he sold them. Funny thing was my Dad passed away in 2004 and I was thinking about buying a Cherokee or building an RV7.

My oldest son gave me great advice, he said buy a new C6 and then I can 'fly' every day. Best advice I've ever had!!! Love the C6, it's my daily 'flyer!'

Student Pilot here.
Am thinking I might be too absent minded to have any reasonable length of life span in aviation though.
Every time I find myself heading for the pantry with the jug of milk, I think of that...........

Yea, I know, instructor says thats what checklists, training and practice are for.............

Default wanna be but still proud of it

just a wanna be here....AFROTC during the late 60's in college getting spit on as I walked across campus in my uniform.....

two years of AFROTC and then failed the flight physical.

Got my '68 SS 396 Camaro Coupe 4 speed a month after the test...not a Phantom Jet but the best I could do at the time....

I tried but man was I a dumb kid....migraines since age eight with full loss of vision for up to an hour or more when the attacks begin-with unpredictable onset....to think I could be a pilot......

but, twenty years ago bought a ticket for my wife and I on the Concorde. It seems like just yesterday listening to the afterburner sound reverberating off the runway....for a moment I had the feeling of sitting in that F4.

just reminiscing....you guys who can fly and who could serve are lucky in my opinion. God just dealt me a hand ( and unusual for a male at that ) that could not be overcome.

just not physically good enough

golly I love the C6

Not obvious ingredients include parachute and sick sack. Stir vigorously!

You also left out Navigators.

Even the Vette can't match the feeling of sitting in an F-4... but it's the closest thing to it!!!

Soloed in Zanesville, Ohio on my 16th birthday. That was 60 years ago.

Many hours and planes since then.

I hate flight physicals...makes my heart go faster...and they freak out. Then I leave and all is fine. One flight surgeon just laughs at me and says to calm down. My wife also laughs because she knows how I am around doctors...

As far as military, I think I'm one of those lucky ones and love every minute of it. Something I dreamed of as long as I can remember. And the high school counselor said I wasn't meant to go to college!

Well can I still be called a pilot? I sold my Citabria last week combination of back getting worse and not flying it because of the responsibilities of taking care of elderly relatives. BUT over forty years as a professional pilot, 22 in the Air Force. Four tours in Viet Nam, around 400 combat missions... then I taught Air to Air and for you Wild Weasels several sam sites destroyed with a slick F4. Chasing MIGs and running low level armed recce are the greatest thrills. Alas its hard to get old and have all that only in your past. Oh to be 21 again and have an F22 Raptor asignment. Now the magnificant C6 is my seat to absolute fun.... well maybe I should get an RV8 to sit next to the Corvette, I can hope as it is what gets us up in the morning
