Default CAGS question

Is there away to electronically disable the skip shift feature? Will a dealer do it?

Yes, there is a simple plug-in device called a CAGS eliminator. Several forum vendors sell it. I doubt a dealer would install it.

Buy one, and follow the online install instructions.
It's not that hard to do.

5 minutes to jack the car, Use Jack stands, you will have to get under the car, even though it is for only about 1 minute

Unplug the connector, plug in the CAIGS and use a tie wrap etc. to secure it and voila, done

Anyone can do it.

It takes longer to jack up the car than it does to install it.

Some members have removed the "feature" with a computer tune as well.

I myself did the simple CAGS eliminator bypass plug. It is a very simple install as the guys above mention.

I disabled mine. $20. The most difficult part was jacking the car up. Make sure that the jack stands (or blocks) are put in their proper place. If you feel secure under the car it only takes about 2 minutes for the fix. It is in the rear of the car on the driver side of the transmission.

Make sure that you disconnect the ground on the battery before you do it. (This is part of the directions that are included.) Not part of the directions was resetting the windows. You will find how to do that in the owners manual. You will also have to reset your seat memories which obviously is very easy. (The window reset is likewise easy.)

It is very worthwhile to do it. The skip shift was a PITA. Great since I bypassed it.

Good luck!

used regular ramps to get the car up in the air, two minutes. another five to get under the car and plug in the cags device. very simple,

some of the (bad) devices have the computer throwing codes for some members.

Had a mechanic friend install it for me. Cash transaction. My old bones don't like to be on a cold garage floor and they remind me for days afterward when I put them there.
