Default More throttle response

I would like a much quicker throttle response on my new 06 Z51. I am going to go with corsa sport exhaust, stinger air intake and a computer tune. I may get long tube headers later. Will that get me a snappier throttle or can I do more other than major mods like cam headers/SC.

I was also wondering if anyone has heat issues with headers, I don't want to melt my brake lines or anything else. I know the remove stock heat shield when the install LT's right?

The tune is what will give you the throttle you're looking for!

I had Corsa Sports and a Honker intake and I don't remember any better throttle response. I got a Predator and - WOW!!! The Predator is a mild generic tune for stock or mildly modified cars, but even it really perked up the car, especially the throttle response. I think if you get a real tune from a tuner using HPTuners or LS2Edit that you'll be real happy with the increase in throttle response.

After my Predator tune I put on Kooks headers and have absolutely no heat problems (mine are Jet Hot coated). I've never had the car dynoed, but the Predator tune gave the most SOTP feel, especially the quicker throttle.

As far as the "heat shield", I'm not sure what you're asking. The tunnel plate may need to be removed when installing headers, especially if you're getting hi-flow Cats (they are farther back than OE Cats), but then the tunnel plate goes back on. I've got an Elite Engineering tunnel plate that is thicker than the OE one and have no problems with my Kooks headers and Cats fitting beautifully. The aftermarket Cats do require O2 wire extensions, and I've read that at least a couple of forum members have had to cut holes in their tunnel plate for clearance for the O2 sensor bungs and sensors, but not with my Kooks.

Bottom line, after you get your intake and Corsas on get a tune and you'll be real happy with the improvement. Even on a bone stock car I think a tune will wake it up.

Thanks Bob, you answered all my questions. I do want high flow cats, they will just have to wait a while.

It will also void my warranty right? Brand new vette and I lose my warranty, that is the only reason I am hesitating.
