Does GM have a program for mechanics that makes them "Corvette Certified"? If so, how do I prove it? I was under the impression that this is true but my dealer denies any type of Corvette training program offered by GM.
My dealer told me any dealer that sells Corvette's must have at least one certified Corvette mechanic. I don't know how you can prove that but it sounds reasonable.
Yes, there is a Corvette Tech Certification, I'll try to find it. No, not all dealers who sell Vettes have a certified tech, it is a completely voluntary certification.

Another dealer lie...my local dealer sells Vettes and they don't have a GM Certified Corvette Technician...but two of the tech have been to some classes on Covertte servicing...

If they are certified, they can produce a certificate ... most display them proudly (at least those I've delt with)
Sort of...By watching a number of DVD's that are Corvette specific, anyone at the dealer can meet the criteria and become "Corvette certified".Each DVD has a short quiz at the end. There are also scheduled dealer in house classes offered via satelite from time to time that have to be attended to meet the criteria.
GM stronly stresses that each dealer have a tech that meets the criteria for specific areas,Corvette related or other.
Unfortunetly, many GM training centers have closed and there is little to no hands on training offered anymore.
Also,it is quite alarming that a dealer can remain "Corvette certified" even after the tech leaves the dealership because the credentials stay with the dealer unless the tech seeks employment at another dealer
When I worked at the dealer and was "Corvette certified",customers could seek me out by simply calling GM customer assistance. They can suggest a dealer that has a tech that meets the criteria for being certified.
