Default Need nav help

Hi all Have a NAV problem. The GPS shows a red slash through the GPS. I have only had the car two days. I have tried to recal but no luck. I have driven it approx 700 miles and still no GPS signal. Also I can not set the clock no matter what I try I can not get either to work. Is this an operator errer or is this a BACK to the Dealer issue? please help.

The no GPS symbol coming on briefly is normal, but if it's been on consistently for your 700 miles, then it sounds like you have a problem with the GPS antennas not working, especially if your mirrors regularly have a clear view of the sky.

Default Still no GPS signal

Well I got her home and set up the location in the CALIBRATION menu. When I drove to work it tracked my route okay, BUT I still have the GPS with a red slash. So I guess to the dealer she goes, I hope it is something simple.

May need the dealer to solve this issue. Good luck.

Default Bad Antenna

Here is whats new. The dealer says its a bad antenna. They also said that there is a GM bulletin about this. So they have ordered an antenna and I should have it next week. Does any one know where the GPS antenna is located?

If it's an 05 it will be on top of the coupe or trunk of conv. 06 or 07 will be in the mirrors.

I think have the same thing. It seems to be tracking routes ok, and the nav seems to be functioning correctly other than the red slash.. Is this consistant with what you're seeing also?

Default GPS ant. location.

The GPS antenna is located in the dash just behind the defrost vents. it is in the circle area if you look in through the windshield. Your XM antennas, if you are so equipped, are located in the outside rearview mirrors.

This is what I am seeing. I also am unable to set the clock due to no GPS signal.
There is a GM notice out on the . GM DOC # 1867937, UE1# PIT4118B.
It states:
" Some customers may comment that when using the Navigation System the Navigation map is showing the incorrect location for the vechile. After further diagnosis, you may notice that the Navigation Radio has no GPS signal which is indicated by a GPS indicator always present on the radio display. The concern may be caused by OnStar antenna overshadowing the The GPS signal of the radio".
"RECOMMENDATIONS/INSTUCTIONS:
Disconnect the GPS atenna from the OnStar module. If the no GPS symbol disappears from the radio, replace the OnStar GPS antenna. Do not replace the radio or the GPS antenna for the Radio. If the no GPS symbol remains, follow normal diagnosis in SI2000"
So I will get a call when the new OnStar GPS antenna is in and have it replaced. I hope this fixes it. FYI I believe the OnStar antenna is the long black box like one, mounted on the windshield next to the mirror.
Hope this helps anyone with this problem.

Default Update on Nav Problem

My service department replaced the OnStar antenna today. THIS DID NOT FIXthe problem, like the GM Notice said. So now GM says to replace the the GPS antenna. This has got me a little nervous as they have to go into the dash to replace it. I hope thet GM service techs know how to disassemble and reassemble the dash so that I can't tell it was ever done.
This does bring up once again GMs Quality Assurance practices. How can a vechile go through a complete QA check and still have things that never worked from the factory. Remeber this was a problem that I first noted on delivery. So it appears the NAV Never worked. I know it is a small thing compared to other problems that people have had but come on GM how about a little better QA program.

Default Anyone Else

Well It is not the GPS antenna either. So far they have replaced the ONSTAR antenna per GM bulletin, the GPS antenna per GM direction and now it looks like the entire NAV/RADIO. Is there anyone else out there that is having a constant GPS with a red spash symbol. I am told there is a 2 week back order on the NAV/Radio so I thought that maybe there are others with this NAV problem.
