i need help with this situation. i had a flat tire from what i thought was a small leak caused by a nail. turns out that the wheel is cracked!?! I dont know how the F that happened. It is the right rear wheel on the inner(closest to the middle of the car) part of the wheel. My question to yall is what do I need to do and if i do need to get a new wheel is it going to be covered under warrenty?? thanks

As long as there is no point of impact showing that you hit something, it should be covered under factory warranty. We have replaced a couple CTS-V wheels for the same problem. Take it in to the dealer and show them the problem. They will need to order the wheel and probably have you come back to get it done.

cast Al is pourous and brittle, it is not unheard of for there to be a bad casting, if a stress crack develops, it could very easily cause a leak. If there is no sign of the rim being damaged from driving into a curb or something I don't see how they could not cover it under warrantee. If it ocurred from hitting a road hazard it should be covered by insurance (?)

update: the guys at the dealership called me today and said that there is obvious impact points and that it is going to be a thousand dollars to replace the wheel Keep in mind that these are not the upgraded wheels and I can assure you I have never hit that tire on a curb or anything like that. when i asked the guy how it was possible that I could damage the rim like that he looked at me and said he didnt know. I am so g-d damn pissed off about this because I feel like they are trying to take advantage of me because I am 24 yrs old. Questions for you guys:1) what should I do now? 2) if i do have to replace the wheel where can I go and how much would it cost(or recommend a place where I can do my own research) thanks.

ask the service manager to show you the impact points respectfully. If they can not convicne you ask for another opinion formthe zone manager. if all fails you can get a set of used or take off wheels here for 4 wheels painted around 600 if polished for around 800. good luck
if you are considering buying a new wheel for $1,000....
You can buy an entire set of aftermarket wheels for that same money. You'll add some flair to your car, and you won't be "giving in to the man" who you feel might be taking advantage of you.
Sometimes, having a concrete reason to spend money feels better than just doing it on a whim...

Those wheels are cast. They're porous. Air can "travel" half way around the rim itself looking for a way out. You can repair this wheel,if you want. I had this happen in 1980 with some Carol Shelby wheels. I had the performance wheel shop dismount & remove the tire. They sprayed lacquer on the inside of the rim surface. Built it up pretty good. Reinstalled and I was back in action! (Well, at least to the slaloms @ San Diego Stadium.) Oops,I mean "Jack Murphy Stadium" oops, I did it again~ "Quallcom Stadium". Yeah, that's it,the "Q!"

Go to the C6 Parts section, House of Wheels has singles and probably so do some others. I think they only charge $200 for a single polished wheel.
but the guy who started this thread said he did not hit anything, the guy in the thread you referr to did
"The good news is that the rear wheel hit the same hole and had no damage at all. So that makes me think it was the front wheel only. As I stated when I first started this, there were a bunch of cycle riders on the road and that were going the other direction. That is what forced me on to the edge of the road where it was rough."
It sounds like the guy in the other thread had a defective wheel, and when he hit a bump, the wheel broke.
