Navigation is in!
Because of my job (sales mgr for window co.) I do a lot of driving and I've had many nav units over the years, both factory and aftermarket. I just traded in an '06 Cadillac STS with the factory Nav that is essentially the same (Denso) as the unit in the C6.
When I originally ordered my C6, I purposely left off the factory unit mainly because I didn't want to be forced to pay for the crappy Bose system that is required. Before I took delivery I did a lot of research and ended up buying a Garmin Nuvi 660 and was very pleased at first. However, after using the Nuvi, I came to realize that the Nuvi had a fatal flaw...I doesn't allow the user to setup "avoid areas", combined with the fact that it only offers 1 route, there isn't any way to circumvent the areas you know you want to avoid. For instance, my office is in Queens, but I do a lot of work in New Jersey. So, the unit would consistently route me through Manhattan to get to New Jersey. That's a major no-no as anyone who lives in the NY/NJ/CT area knows.
So I started exploring other options and settled on the Pioneer D2. To me, it blows everything else out of the water!. Not only is it a great nav unit, but it's also a great car stereo!
Another couple of notes about the Nuvi 660 for those who may be considering it that are C6 specific:
1. The FM transmitter is very weak and because the antenna of the C6 is in the rear window, that feature was useless to me.
2. Because the 12V power is retained, you have to manually turn on/off the unit , which I found annoying.

XM Antenna (GPS antenna is under dashboard speaker grille)

Aux plug for mp3 player. Also have A/V inputs under the plastic console piece for when I need it.

My installer also did a great job. I don't have picks, because I put my car away since then and I haven't really got a chance to really take some good pictures! As soon as I get the chance, I'll post! Two things I noticed on your install...
...My ipod interface is located in the glove box, since I didn't want any drilling in the center console; second, the antenna(s) for either the nav or xm, I see they were put on the dash..mine I had put in the top/center of the dash, were the little speaker sits by the front windsheild, right in the middle of the dash. The speaker has no use, so my installer put both antennas there, hidden. So there is nothing sitting on my dash. Reception is great for both the nav and xm. Just a though...
I'm very particular about my car and i did not want any wires/antennas on my dash; anyway enjoy!
It's a good unit but it has it's quirks. The worst of which, IMO, is the volume control is not a **** and there is no mute button. So when you get a call or something you have to hold the volume down button. There is a "cell phone mute" wire that you can hook up to a toggle switch that will mute it but it's kind of a hack.
If your FM reception is still not up to par check out this thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1490988 The fix is somewhat involved.

How do you like the NavTraffic? Do you find it accurate? We probably drive on the same roads ( like the SS P'way), so I'm very interested to hear your opinion.
honestly I haven't really used it, because I really do not take my vette everyday. But, I have the nav traffic hooked up in my honda pilot, through the magellan gps 6000T. I use my truck almost every other day and I do have a nav/traffic subscription, after the 3 month trial period. It works nice..
When you use your navigation and your in route to your destination, if there is a problem during your drive, nav traffic will show it on your screen. Its weird how works...
from what I can tell and heard, it works off of the micro-waves from construction, police scanners and things like that. It's most helpful on long trips, like through NJ. I haven't gotten that far, but i'm sure you will be happy with it
