Default 2001 and newer with 'silver' valve stem covers

Anyone with these from the factory...they appear to be made of aluminum or other lightweight material. When I got my oil changed, my tech suggested that they be replaced because they have a habit of 'welding' themselves to your valve stem...well, I didn't listen and when I checked them on a warmer day after a nice ride (it's ALWAYS a nice ride in the 'Vette, isn't it?) they were almost impossible to remove...I'm gonna change 'em...Jason at TEAM...I'm gonna listen from now on...honest!!!and thanx again.
Sorry...supposed to be in c5 General Discussion.

At the auto parts store you can get a tube of antiseze. It is used on steel bolts in aluimumn heads. The problum will go away.

Hopefully, I posted the URL for the thread that I wrote, but this talks about the problem that I had with the valve stem covers and the valve stem. B.T.W., when they replaced the valve stem (which includes the tire pressure sensor), the parts people advised that it was with a newer part, as there was some change to the sensor.

I took my gray plastic valve stem covers off my Y2K and saved them. I figured some NCRS guy would pay a few grand more for the car 40 years from now with original date coded caps  I put chrome caps on for looks.
