Default Need Feedback

I posted my corvette for sale on the forum on Dec 29th. I have had 214 views with no replies. I know owners consider their cars to be worth more than others -- human nature, I guess. I need some advice as to a realistic value for my car. I researched Edmunds, NADA, and KBB and thought I had priced it fairly, but now I am wondering if that is the case.

Here is the info: 06, C6, DSOM, 6 speed, 7800 miles, and in excellent condition. It has all options except Nav, Z51, F55 and glass top. I have added hoodliner, Lloyd mats, cargo divider, mud guards, rear enhancer plate and car cover (although it is always garaged). I am asking $45,500. My ad can be viewed on the for sale forum as 06 C6, DSOM, 6spd, cpe, cashmere.

I would appreciate any and all constructive feedback.
TIA and have a safe, prosperous and Happy New Year!!

You will sell it, just hang in there. It's Holiday time right now. Be ready to accept a lower offer, that's the way it works.

You will likely do better selling the car via one of the private party routes like autotrader. While I would consider your price fair it is certainly no "bargain". With respect to the aftermarket parts you've added they will do nothing to raise the value only to help hold it. Kelley Blue book lists the following for your car from a private party in my zipcode as optioned:

Condition
Value

Excellent
$44,080

Good
$41,805

Fair
$38,700

Now, combine that with forum dealers offering lower prices on 2007 cars with mixed options, you are likely to get the cold shoulder here on the forum. I know I wouldn't want to sell my car for less than that either and mine is an '05. I just don't think you will get near what you want here. The reality is the group on the forum is more knowledgable about the Corvette and the deals that can be had between employee pricing and forum dealers the price expectations are a little warped. This however does not represent the buying public as a whole. If you are not willing to lower your price by as much as $4-$5 k I don't think you will get many bites here. Of course this is my opinion and others will vary.

As much as I hate to say this, I think if you research the auctions (Ebay & the various car auctions in your area) you will find that your car will probably sell at around $37-38K......maybe a tad bit lower. The problem is that folks can buy an `07 new with the options you have (the mods have no real value on resale ) in the low $40s so why would they pay a comparable amount for an `06? Again, hate to have to tell you this but it is just a fact. Best of luck to you though.

PCJR -

The problem is NEW C6s are ging sold at MAJOR discounts.

In 7/06 I bought a NEW 2006 BASE Coupe for $40,490 and with $1000 GM card rebate = $39490.

I just bought a brand new 2007 C6 Coupe for $44095 with Automatic and Chrome rims. I then got another $1000 off with my GM card = $43095.

You can buy a 2006 leftover for $8000-$12000 off depending on options.

I have even seen 3lt 2007s going for $8000 off.

KBB is over valued, use Edmunds for a realistic #.

Here are the values:

2006 Chevrolet Corvette 2dr Hatchback (6.0L 8cyl 6M)
------------------Trade-In----Private Party---- Dealer Retail
National Base Price $34,771----- $37,293-------- $39,356
Optional Equipment $3,156 $3,429 $4,052
Rear Cargo Cover $122 $133 $157
Heated Driver Seat $101 $110 $130
Head-Up Display $254 $276 $326
Driver Seat Memory $122 $133 $157
Power Front Passenger Seat $254 $276 $326
Power Driver Seat Lumbar Adjustment $81 $88 $104
Front Sport Seats $814 $884 $1,045
Tilt and Telescopic Steering Wheel $122 $133 $157
Power Passenger Seat Lumbar Adjustment $81 $88 $104
19 Inch Polished Alloy Wheels $697 $756 $894
Front Side Airbags $153 $166 $196
Heated Passenger Seat $101 $110 $130
AM/FM/CD Changer/MP3 Audio System $254 $276 $326
Color Adjustment
Orange $0 $0 $0
Regional Adjustment
for Zip Code 18966 $50 $54 $57
Mileage Adjustment
7,800 miles $0 $0 $0
Condition Adjustment
Clean $0 $0 $0
Total--------------------------- Trade $37,977-------- Private $40,776----- Retail $43,465

I would say at $38K it would sell NOW, even $39K from a Forum member.
For $40K-$41K it would sell, but not as fast, but it is fair.
For $45K people will go NEW.

JMHO

A completely BASE 2007 C6 manual tranny can still be bought NEW for under $40K and people know that.

Hope this helps,

Howard

SO, If I read this correctly,it's a base car, basically.NO NAV,NO Z51,NO F55,NO GLASS TOP.If that's the case ,new 07's can be had for around 39,900.Sorry if I'm reading it wrong.

Yours is a fair asking price, but be prepared to sell it for a little less. As a point of reference, GMS price was almost $2k less for my '06 MZ6 3LT Z51 new. I agree the car will probably sell in the low 40's/high 30's given the price at which new ones can be bought now. I have found kbb private party good condition prices fairly accurate. Good luck!

The fact that alot of people have equity in a trade they must use might also hurt...

Unfortunately your car doesn't have many features folks may want...which will have folks looking to buy new w/ desired equip. You're also seeing the reality of depreciation. Your prospective customer base is looking to capitalize on that...and sure aren't going to be interested in paying even close to full boat for this particular car.

Dealers are aggressively discounting at the moment. Just last month I bought an '07 Coupe, LMB, 3LT, F55, comp gray wheels for $46,500...no certificates, no credit card bonuses...just folding Franklins. I currently have an order in for a base '07 vert (2LT) with A6 in VY for $49,500... again no certificates or bonuses...just some folding Franklins.

Good luck with your sale, but I think you're going to have to take a bit less for your car. Just my $0.02, YMMV.
