First of all, I love this car, so I am in no way bashing it . . . but . . . I have noticed that when I shift gears there is a lot of feeling in the shift - as in, it seems to grind (too strong a word) or you can really feel it touching metal. It's seldom a smooth shift. It's not hard to shift, just has a lot of feeling through the ****. Is this normal for others who have a 6 speed? Is it more common if the car is not warmed up? Just some thoughts on this observation.

On a more serious side, I had the same with my '05 M6. I would suggest changing to Royal Purple in the tranny. It seemed to help. I have heard the same from others too. Second, you might get more response if you have the mods switch this to the tech section of the forum. That is where a lot of the gear heads hang out.
Mines that way too, especially with all the highway driving I did ringing it home from NCM. After a few hundred miles of city driving its gotten better, but still a bit like yours. I found taking time to shift, a short wait before going into the next gear helps most times.
I find the gates to be well defined, you can definately feel the rods move into the selected path. I do however feel a slight hesatation when I first start off in the morning and feel a slight clunk in the shift, it goes away quickly. I believe that to be normal, its been that way with all the manual Corvettes I have driven.
yeah mine felt a bit notchy too at first but it seems to be smoothing out a bit now, and yeah I like it a bit on the tight side rather than loose anyways
I experience the same thing. When I shift I can "feel" the metal to metal of the gears as they mesh. I have driven a number of other manuals transmissions (not Vettes) but none of the others were like this.
Mine is more noticeable in the lower gears.

Like all modern auto transmissions, the forward gears are constant mesh. Which gear you're in is determined by which pair of constantly meshed gears is currently locked to the input and output shafts. What you may be feeling is the dog teeth engaging. They do the locking, and are part of the synchronizing mechanism. The synchro rings are supposed to block the dog teeth from engaging until synchronization has occurred, but they won't always do that if the primary and secondary shafts aren't already fairly closely speed matched to the gear pair you're trying to engage, or if you hurry the shift and don't give them enough time to match speeds.
