I am having problems jacking up my car. I want to take off the wheels to paint the calipers. I tried a new jack from pep boys but it wouldnt even fit under the car untill I took off the wheels of the jack and once jacked up the jack started sliding.
Can anyone PLEASE help? What kind of jack should I use? Thanks Everyone.

I admit it, I have become a lazy cuss in my old age, so I got one of these at Auto Zone or Pep Boys. Very cheapo, but gets the job done, and very low profile so it works for both the Corvette, and also my dropped '40 coupe, which is only 4" off the ground in front
Are you sure the piston was completely collapsed? Unless it is the old style straight piston lift, even my largest hydraulic jack fits under the side of the car.
I bought an $89 jack at Sears just before Christmas that works just fine and use a pair of hockey pucks glued together with an eye bolt in the center to fit into the jacking points on the side rails of the Vette.
For less than $100, it works like a champ thanks to the ideas posted by others on this forum.
