Default PS3 vs Vette Mods

I almost bought a PS3 at the Buckley AFB base exchange (BX) for 499.99. I decided against to save it for Vette funds. I could not believe they had about 10 PS3s sitting on a pallet when you walk in. In the end I would rather have new Vette parts and wait till PS3 prices drop.

there is a surplus of them now, so ebayers are done for. On a side note though, the price will not drop, so if you want one, it's just a matter of determining when. Myself, I bought an xbox 360 after the ps3 came out, I was dissapointed in the performance for the price.

PS3's are not selling well. The Wii has had a MUCH stronger launch.

Even in Japan, they've sold more than double the amount of Wii's than PS3's. Sure there was a shortage at first, but I don't buy it. They're everywhere now. Playstation was HUGE in Japan previously.

Why? It's fun, inexpensive, and offers simplistic gameplay anyone can enjoy.

If you want a $600 piece of furniture that makes pretty images, get the PS3. If you want to have fun, get the Wii.

PS: I sold 2 PS3's for big profit at launch. Some people said keep them til right before Christmas. Glad I didn't.

From what i understood PS3 is the only player with blue ray. So you get a game consel and blue ray player all in one. $600 seems like a good price. Aren't most blue ray players about 800+ range? Also is the over stock the 60 or 20 gig?

i got the 360 last january and will wait to see what happens. as of now ps3's are setting on the selves everywhere. the graphics are no better and xbox just has more/better games right now. i have been a playstation guy since they came out but now......well microsoft was smart to beat them to the punch. granted if you get the hd player they are the same price when all said and done but to just play sweet games in high def x box rules for the moment split the diffence and see yu online for some c6/c6 z racing....gothom3 comes free with x box right now!

1. No one knows who is going to win the media format battle for 1080p

2. Most consumers dont have a 1080p television

3. Game are currently not made in anything higher than 1080i (too much space. Games would have to be multiple disk)

4. PS3's was developed to be "fast" but doesnt work well with the demands of the game developers/engrs. Basically MS got tons of feedback from game developers as to what they needed to truly make their games come alive. PS just upped the processor speed and not the graphics capibility.

In the end the MS world of Xbox live can give you so much and allow you to download:

game additions
HD movies
TV shows
Demos
TV trailers
run all your videos/music from your PC

I replaced everything under my TV with a 360, streamed it to my 4 external 500gig hard driver. Netflix ripped the movies to them and bought a 47in LCD HDTV ...

I am set

I had to delay some of my vette mods while I recovered from purchasing the 60gb model PS3. I'm glad I have it, but in retrospect, I should have just been content with playing the Xbox 360. Can't wait for some of the upcoming releases though... and the blu-ray player is nice to have too.

PS3 is a flop, Sony is in the sh*ter from a financial point of view. Very few game developers support the PS3 because to develop a game for it costs about twice the amount that it does to develop a XBOX 360 game.

Good call on not buying the PS3.

You are so wrong. I am a die hard PC Gamer. The Wii is a joke. Anyone over the age of twelve laughs at the Wiis performance. The PS3 is the future of console gaming. I own a retail PC Store who builds alot of custom gaming rigs. The PS3 is the closest you can get to HD/PC Gaming and it has BluRay included. My niece is 7, I gave her a Wii for Xmas.

not positive but i pretty sure none of the games are even 1080. i believe right now they are all 720. that said things will get even better. i did get a 1080p udate a while back though. but my tv is 1080i. also in about three months a new disc is coming out that will run on both blue ray and hd dvd players so the format war is kinda mute at this point and since there is no good title out yet.....i can wait
