This question may already be out there, but with so many threads active, I have not found it. I have an '06 Z06, practically no miles. I got a recall from the General saying that there is a possibility of top delamination and to bring it in for a fix. Right now there is no evidence of any problem. I am told that the fix involves installing some new retainers, and that it involves removing sun visors and headliner. Not thrilled about a dealer who admittedly has not done one of these mucking around and leaving a mess. Has anybody had any experience with this problem and its fix?

Thanks in advance.
The problem is very real. It manifests itself initially as a "popping" sound over uneven terrain. The C6 coupe with the painted roof had the largest incedence of failure but there were a few Z06's that had the panel delaminate as well. Warm temps and direct sunlight seem to have the worst effect. The problem comes from a change to the top material to a polycarbonate from the SMC that was used on the C5. All new roofs are being made from the SMC material again and everything has been o.k. since as far as I've seen.
Sadly, I would recommend that you find a good Chevy dealer in your area (perhaps one that has performed the recall) and go get it done. I wish I had better news for you.
Certanly not the best answer I could have hoped for, but I guess not unexpected. Is there anyone who has had the fix that can give any ideas on questions to ask or things to watchout for even with a dealer that has done the experieince?

You might actually be better off asking this question in the Z06 section here:
Thanks Paul - I'll give that a try. I'm a newbie at this and figured I would just try C6 first, thinking it is probably a "coupe thing." At least I know more about what causes it.
I obviously may be wrong but I thought that all Z06s did not have a targa top. That the top was one piece.
If so, it seems strange that you would be part of the recall since the problem is (was) with the removable targa top on the base coupe.
The Z06 has a similar roof panel (as far as construction) to the coupe. The difference being how the panel is attached to the car. The problem is that the way the polycarbonate roof panel attached was too similar to that of the coupe. It is very much a part of the recall as a few owners have all ready had their roof fly off as did the owners of coupes.
