Does The Clear Film From 3m Do Damage To A Brand New Car? I Am Picking Up My New Car In March, And Want To Have The Front End Covered B4 Taking Delivery. Any Comments Or Horror Stories That Could Persuade Me Not To Have This Done Would Be Helpful.
The film...absolutely not... the installer yes and that is the key to the 3M clear bra system... competent installer so there is where you do your homework.

Many new cars right off the show room floor come with clear bra systems... one of the local (to Reston Va) premier film installers does all the Ferrari, Maserati new cars (as a pre delivery set up) and MANY
C6, BMW and Porsche new cars... so you would be in good company when you have it done as soon as possible (meaning pre stone chip) after purchase.

I did the front end, headlights, foglights and mirrors on my '07. I didn't go up the hood at all because of the noticeable demarcation there. I had a C5 and the mirrors got pitted really bad so I felt the mirrors are a must. No damage to the paint will happen at all as the paint is completely cured when it leaves the factory. Days past, you did have to wait even before waxing.
I went like the others with the front bumper. It stops right where the bumper and hoodline meet. The whole hood to me seems like over-kill. I'm very happy with mine.
Hmmm....how noticeable is the 3M Covering on the car? and how thick is it? as for washing the car is there something special so it wont lose the shine? Thanks!
The obvious things like the hood and front bumper and the side mirrors. Don't forget the headlights, you don't want to know the price of a new headlight assembly.

That sounds like an excellent solution! Does anyone have an estimate on cost of materials and how much it is to have it installed by a reputable person? Just ballpark. I'm picking up a new C6 convertible late Feb and this seems like the answer to the chip problem, especially the rear view mirrors. TIA....
We have had it on our Z06 since Feb 02. It goes up about 14" onto the hood. It covers the mirrors, inside back edge of fenders, lower door sills and lower rear fenders. It has saved thounsands of chips including a minivan that backed into me from scratching the paint. Great stuff and as said, get a good installer.

Install is the key. No damage from an early install. Here is my car with the complete 3M treatment and 13,000+ miles.
