Default Help with a bra....

Not that kind! Trying to decide on a bra for an 07 that I'll be picking up at NCM late Feb. I've seen some pic's of the Colgan for bra and mirror and they look nice but a bit pricey. That's okay if the fit is as good as it looks. I won't be using it except for long trips (especially returning home from NCM). The silver looks nice but black would probably be okay for my purposes. I can't seem to get any info from the Colgan site and wondered if you might know of others who sell the product. Left four or five messages but no response! TIA, Paul Just looking for a nice fit with no flapping in the wind.

Price not withstanding, the Speed lingerie product is probably the best going but they are very expensive. Second will be the Colgan product for a little less money. The OEM bra's from GM work as promised and are a comparitive bargin but don't have the aesthetics that the brand names have. In your case for only long trips I'd look to the GM bra.

Give one of our forum vendors like Gene Culley or Fred Beans a shot and I'm sure you'll be pleased with the price they offer. I have a 3M clear bra on my car and am very happy with it. I used the GM bra on my C5 for nearly 5 years and it did it's job very well.

Are there any 3M clear bra applier's in the Ft. Rucker area that you could use, or have you ruled out clear bra ?

FWIW: know a lot of owners with clear bra are very happy...and many conventional bras are sitting on garage shelves.

btw, 60av8tor: love the avatar!

Thanks for the replies. Haven't ruled anything out yet! Must say I'm leaning toward the clear bra at this point but no installers in the FT. Rucker area that I'm aware of. P.S. That really is a great avatar for an aviator. When did you attend flight school. I retired an army aviator in 1983 and taught primary at Ft. Rucker from '84 til '05. Maybe our paths crossed. Thanks again for the info.

I have the GM bra, its a good value, bought it from my dealer with club discount for around $75. Purchased rear view mirror covers that match perfectly for about $39 from Mid America Motorworks. Everything fits nicely and why spend more?

I did the same, and I find both very appropriate for the longer trips that I take from time to time. The GM bra fits well and does not flap in the wind, even at extra-legal speeds.

Default New Colgan available

I have a new Colgan, black, with license plate cut out. Purchased by wife after I ordered the vette assuming I'd be running with the Texas mandatory front plate. If your going to run a stock front plate, or have a piece sew in as suggested by Colgan, drop me an e-mail if interested. Rather than have it sitting unused in the box I'll make a heck of a deal.

Hi,

I ordered the GM bra the other day. Any tricks on how to install it and does it come with everything I need to get the install done?

Thanks, Jerry

Default Speed Lingerie...pricey but worth it IMHO

Gang,

Good Morning,

Speed Lingerie is more pricey than Colgan, but tighter / better fit and significantly better match in body color.

I have one on each vehicle ('06 Black MN6 Z-51 and '07 Monterrey Red A6)plus thehe mirror covers, which look like sparring gloves.

Thought it was going to be a PITA to install, but was pleasantly surprised in each case....'ya need a lift to make it easier, however.

Take Care Bretheren,

Bernie

Lots of luck with the GM bra. Major nightmare to install. Most folks I've talked to do not like them at all. Frank at Colgan isn't too responsible about calling people back. Sometime I wonder if these folks are really interested in answering questions and selling their product.
I purchased a mask from C5creations and it works great. Literally 1-2 min to put on. Drove from Fl to NJ on US95 several times and it is great. Won't stop a bolder but great for bugs and small stones. washable and folds up small. call Harold @ 877-239-5387

Why spend more? Well, for me anyway, my car is a daily driver and I commute to work about 60 miles round trip on the highway. I used nothing on my black C5 and the amount of rock chips were incredible in only 2 years. A strap on bra would not be an option for daily use, especially here in Florida with all of the afternoon showers we get. I opted for the 3M Bra - getting it installed tomorrw in Tampa - and based on all the reports here, i am sure i will be very pleased.

First - congratulations on the new ride and NCM delivery - a GREAT experience.

I too wanted a good bra to take to NCM with me and install for the ride home. Read everything I could on the Forum and came down to a choice between GM and Speed Lingerie. Wife told me - you just spent $60 K on that beautiful car - why go cheap on such an important part of the car - that was all I needed to hear. Not that there is anything wrong with the GM bra - but I knew I'd be happy with the SL bra.

Took it with me to NCM, but after talking with my guide, he suggested to wait at least a few days before installing to let paint age just a little more. And if you want to start an interesting thread - ask for opinions about that!

Anyway - after first day, bugs on the front of the car were driving me nuts, so I figured they were worse for the car than going ahead and installing the bra. That's when the fun started. The first time you put the SL bra on it will truely be a PITA. It fits like a second skin. You will need to heat it, tug at it, cuss at it (a lot) and generally be prepared for a tough time. I even called SL and asked if somehow I got the wrong bra. They urged me to just keep trying, and said call back if needed. Eventually I got the d#*n thing on. I have had it on and off since (don't like to keep it on) and piece of cake now. Still fits like a glove, but seems to have stretched the right amount.

Bottom line - I highly recommend it.

I would really like a color matched bra for my 07 MR but it's not available yet. I decided on the nylon stretch bra sold through the NCM. At the time they offered free shipping. It won't keep the bigger stones off of the paint, but it does do a nice job defending against bugs and smaller debri. It's easy to put on, folds up small enough to store in the bin in the back and easily washed. The only thing is the snaps are 'chrome' and I think look funcky at the wheel well. I went to a marine supplier here in Indy and bought some black powder coated snaps as a replacement and so far are happy with the appearance. They almost disappear at the wheel well now.

Default Ecklers was cheapest around Xmas '06; Forum store good too

COLOR="Blue"]Hi Boat Racer,

[SIZE="4"]I bought two Speed Lingerie Nose Masks with License plate pockets...since every once in awhile the NYS State troopers out west, hassle you about front plate "presence" and Mirror covers (appear to be sparring..boxing...gloves).

Both units obtained from Ecklers since their price was almost $300 lower than Mid America around X-mas '06 (Unit one was Black for my'06 Z-51 MN6 QG-7, Unit two was Monterrey Red for my '07 A6 Z-51 QX-3)

Down side of Ecklers was slow shipping since they debit your bank account prior to shipment from "outsourced" vendor...maybe that's why price is lower since Ecklers doesn't stock units and therefore saves on not having inventory.

Currently the Forum Store looks good too...wrt price...I don't know how responsive therir shipping is..i.e., do they stock(?)

That's my $0.02,

Take care 'bro...

Bernie
