Can you just replace the lense covers on the headlights and fog lights on a C6, or do you need to buy complete new light assemblys?

I am in Chicago - can't drive it - might as well learn something about it.

You have to replcae the whole light houising. Headlights arent cheap. I just sold a pair. GM wants $135 for one headlight!

Well all they did was replace the cover. Evidently there is a problem with these covers. mine had stress crack, and it was replaced under the warranty.
This member claims just the headlight cover was replaced.

Who is "in the know" here?

The headlight covers are not replaceable. You have to replace the entire headlamp assembly which go for around $800 from some of the forum parts supply vendors. If you look at the Corvette parts catalog, there is no part listed for just the headlight cover.

If you want to paint your car a custom color and have matching headlamp assemblies, they can be taken apart by gently heating the unit in an oven to soften the glue and then prying them apart. After painting, you need to re-glue the cover to the assembly (and hope you have it sealed).

Why can't you drive it? The weather has been great here. I have been driving mine, but it's also a DD so I would have been driving it regardless. Dude, enjoy your car.

Just bustin' your ***** a little. Oh, and the whole housing needs to be replaced.

Hmm...sounds like they could be replaced using this method -- if you could order just the lens. Since this is not possible, I would guess junkyards would only sell complete assemblies. Oh well...
