Default New Car 1 day; Check engine avg 1 per day, sigh

Well, I picked it up yesterday, drove it about 30 miles to get it home (short cut) and this morning the cute Check engine light is on. Being a good reader of this forum, I knew that On-Star can read codes so... Pushed the blue button.

It seems my CAGs is pissed about something but I can "Get it taken care of at my convenience". OK, I can drive it but hell 1 day and I get a code!

At least I can still drive it. THe "1-4" light comes on and I feel the "push" to 4th so I don't see what it's so upset about!

Make sure your gas cap is on tight. May clear it up, may not.

Take it to the dealer, that's what the warranty is for.

In the plans as soon as I get back from my cruise to Bahama (Thursday to Monday).

Ya know what's funny? I'm going to put CAGS to sleep with my EFILive but I may as well have it working before I toast it.

Default Gm

Just goes to show you no matter how new there Vette issues are out there and not tied to any certain year or thing. I would imagine had they used better glue there would have been no issues.

Hey Elmer,

Glad to hear you got your car but sorry about the news of the check engine light so soon.

Does your EFILive read codes as well? I've got a check engine light on myself and am almost certain that it's from my LT high flow cats but would like to check.

Thanks,
David

I'm not sure that's a fix. It'll make it go away but if something is hosed, it'll be back. I'll let GM take care of it.

Thennnnnn I'll put it to sleep.

Yepper! It'll read your car and tell you what the code is. I can even turn them off BUT, a if there is really a problem, it'll come back on.

Will your EFILive talk to this car? The interface is different than the standard OBDII, now has a CANI interface as well.

I just upgraded to V2 and that will communicate and tune the LS2 engine. I'm sure there are a ton more tables and itens to consider than what I tuned on my 98 f-body but V2 will work on Vettes and f-bodies.

When you feel the push to 4th are you going to 4th gear or to 2nd? If you are bypassing the skip shift it may have triggered the code.

Went to the dealer.

They take the car back and I go to the waiting room.

15 minutes later, the service writer comes to me and tells me I have a history code for CAGS.

I respond.. History? Don't you mean "active"? If it were a history code, the SES light would be off and a history code stored.

HE stutterers... No, it's a history code.

Me: Ok, is there an active code?

SW: No

Me: Clear the code and if it comes back I'll make an apporintment.

Thank the nice man and leave.
