I have recently purchased my first corvette (2005 Convertible). It has been a dream of mine ever since I was 5 years old. Anyway my question is about tire rotation. Being that there are 2 different sizes on the front and back, you can only switch a right rear with a left rear right and right front with a left front right? Should I do it more often that a normal set of tires? I know those tires aint cheap so I want to maximize their lifetime.
Depends on which tires you have. The OEM tires on the Z-51 optioned cars can be rotated right to left (but your Tire Pressure Sensors will now show the wrong side on the DIC). The base suspension tires are directional and cannot be rotated.
If your tires are directional, they will have an arrow on the sidewall denoting the direction of rotation.

Does anyone remember why tire rotation was first recommended? It was so that the spare tire could be added to the tire life of the other 4 tires and that you would even out the wear between the front and rear tires. Changing side to side make no sense at all.

Tires on the right side of a vehicle tend to wear out sooner than left. Probably because the right tires are near the road's edge where there is more debris and road irregularities.
This was happening to my Z51 tires, and by flipping them yearly I estimate to get 1 or maybe 2000 more miles on the rears. So in my mind there is at least borderline use in rotation.
