I unstalled a 6k unit to replace my factory fog lights. They look and perform great. Now, I want to replace the headlight bulbs with a stronger bulb. Has anyone done this? If so, can you give me your feedback? I need to know which type of bulb works best and where to get them.

I read the post and I even participated. However, I did not see the replacement of the actual headlight bulb. Can you help?
I think you'll find that the only option that seems to be available is to replace the existing bulb with a 6000k bulb. Its not more powerful, only a whiter white. There is a link on that other post above to the only guy (so far anyway) that offers the 6000k bulb. He lists it as one available for the sts cadilac which Ive been told is the same as what is on our cars. I dont think anyone has actually made the swap as of yet. (Everyone is waiting for somebody else to make the first move...) The swap appears to be a very easy one as the existing bulb is held in place by 2 #10 Torx screws. If you make the purchase from the ebay guy, I'm sure you'll easily be able to make the switch...

the 6000k bulb is not going to be whiter, it's going to be bluer. the stock 4300k bulbs are the whitest that are made.
going up in kelvin makes the lumens drop. the lumens are what measure light output.

Lumens won't necessarily drop.
The "K" figure indicates temperature in degrees kelvin which determines the color output.
The scale runs from infrared to ultrviolet. The lower the temperature or number the warmer or redder the color. The higher, the cooler or bluer the color.
Oddly enough the human eye tends to respond better to warmer light colors.

At one point, I had the Hoen Xenon match bulbs in my C6 and I ended up going back to stock. Turns out that even though they "matched" the color of the HID's, when driving behind them I felt they did not put out as much light as the stocks, IE I felt I could see more with the stock bulbs. So even though oncoming cars see two different colors, I don't care because I can see better. YMMV.

I've tried three different sets of H9 bulbs from various sources. They aren't worth a damn. The blue tint on the glass cuts down on the illumination. Ended up going back to the stock high beam bulbs.

I rarely use my hi-beams unless I cannot see anyone else on the road so the difference in "color" doesn't bother me.
