Scheduled maintenance question
I was washing my car the other day and noticed that the dealer had placed a little sticker in the upper corner of my windshield. The sticker says next scheduled maintenance is 3000 miles. My car is new and I picked it up at this dealer a few weeks ago.
I don’t recall anything in the manual about a 3000 mile service. What does the dealer want to do with my car at 3000 miles? Is this a courtesy inspection or is it just a way for them to make some more money off of me. If my car is running well is there really any reason to take it in?

In short you don't need an oil change at 3k miles - that was simply a case of the dealer trying to milk a few extra dollars out of him.

Just about all car dealer service centers will do this - so they can make money with their service centers. My Toyota guys also put the same 3,000 mile sticker (which contradicts the manufacturer reccomended interval of 7,500 miles). I promptly peel off & throw those away when I get the car back.

Yes you can go much longer on the oil. A lot of folks use 80% of the DIC oil monotor as a guide.
