Default Removal Procedure

Does anyone have diagram for the removal of the silver/gray inserts on the steering wheel? Or have the Intel on how this is done?

Thanks

Silver-gray inserts? Do you mean the C6 logo in the center?

Okay, and why would you want to replace them? And with what?

Thanks calemasters

I see that the center piece is not show in that diagram. I just went out and felt the backside of the steering wheel. There are no screw holes back there. What that being said what would be the procedure in removing the center piece to get to the diagram that you are showing? Does the center piece just pop out??

Once again Thanks

Default got that right

I don't even have an 06 and up and would not consider that adventure. I don't like the steering wheel in an 06 and above anyway but the silver trim similar to the console looks ok to me. I see a few folks painting the silver console red, blue and what ever and I just think it looks tacky for a car or a Vette.

It was just a thought with it snowing up here in Colorado and the car can't go outside.

I painted the Center Trim Plate, Twin Instrument Panel Cluster Pods and Door Button Bezels to mach the all black interior of the car. The matching color actually ties the interior together. These were goign to be the last two pieces to do. But not now.

As you stated Radical05 I too didn't want to have the outside color inside of the car. It looks tacky. The Black on Black on Black has a seamless feel inside.

Default no slam

I was not slamming anyone or you on painting it's not for me. I really don't like the steering wheel of an 06 and above. Between the dough boy as they say and that I would take the dough boy. Now of course there could be a better one than the dough boy, but what GM did for 06-07 is not that wheel. Also we all know about the audio controls on the right vice the left side where they should be. If they went to that much trouble to add, why not make it even with audio on the left and cruise on the right getting the cruise out of the turn signal switch. There are many car manufacturers out there that have far better looking steering wheels for a less equipped car. As for your wheel, maybe a black matte finish on the two pieces would be ok, but not red, blue, yellow etc. Looking at the wheel disassembly, airbag etc I would just leave it alone for now. That's why I never did anything about my 05 black XM ant on top, bc it is not that big a deal to me and if I were to hide it, that means a new top piece with no hole like the 06, paint etc and then figure where to put the ant as I still use it. I'd rather be driving than fooling with that. Guess I'm lucky living in Florida for more driving opportunity with a mild winter so far. Anyway that was my 2c and then some.

I just took mine off - not that hard. The diagram helped considerably.
