Default remember when??

below is a copy of post I made about a month after I bought my first corvette..

I now have over 22,000 semi-trouble free miles on the car..and my house has been paid in full

I am no longer as sentimental about the corvette experience as back then but I still feel I have been blessed every time I buckle the seat belt...

........................................ ........................................ ........................................ ........................................ ................................

anyone else have this happen??

my earliest dreams were to someday own a brand new corvette...my guess is every kid dreams of a corvette

I did not grow up poor but my father was a working man that had a wife and 4 kids to feed...we did not live on the nicest house on the block and I never remember anyone in my family buying a BRAND NEW CAR...

Until about 8 years ago I stayed with the family tradition and always bought and drove a used car or truck...then my business started to take off and I bought my first new pick up.. Most of my friends seemed to buy new cars or trucks so I just took it for granted at that time..

fast forward until June of 2005

My business has continued to prosper and my house is almost paid for...the CORVETTE BUG began creeping up on me..

I started to read about the new 6th generation corvette...I could not find a negative article about the new corvette..

then I began to price corvettes online...wow!! the models with the options I desired were above 60K...sure I am doing good ..but do I really need a new corvette??

But the bug would not go away..I finally emailed a few local salesmen hoping to get a good deal when the GM employee discount began to advertise..but guess what??...the discount does not include corvettes..

then I happened to drive by a dealer that had the EXACT COLOR I had been dreaming about..it was also a convertable..I wondered if it had the power roof

About a week later the car was still in front of the dealership so I gather up my courage and stopped by to talk with a salesman..

the car I had my eye on was a demo and had 800 miles on it and he could let it go for 2K under sticker..and yes it had a power roof

I told him let me sleep on it a night...he gave me the same OLE sales pitch.."this car wont last long" ... I must admit I did not sleep well that night...

Well, after a not so good nights rest I made up my mind..I am gonna buy the car!!..

I go to the dealer and take care of all the financial arrangements and in a matter of a few hours I was driving away from the dealership in a BRAND NEW CORVETTE!!

I had been in the car about 10 minutes and I cannot type into words the joy I was feeling...is this really my car?? is my life really this good?? this has been a dream of mine since childhood..

then the tear came

my maiden voyage in the corvette brought a tear to my eye..

a poor uneducated kid like myself buying a new corvette??..somebody pinch me!!

I realized somebody up there must love me..

I had been blessed!!

I said thank you lord and wiped away the tear..

then I floored the gas pedal and the roar from the engine damn near gave me a hard-on!!

so much for the mushy stuff..

THIS CAR ROCKS!!!

I am paying my house off on thurs, but, I do have a loan against my car.
I just cant pay it off right now, would rather keep the money and invest it(2 kids around 1 yr old help make this decision easy)

One day, I hope to be lucky enough to have both paid off!

For me it all started at age 2, told my now deceased aunt that I would grow up to be a Lambo mechanic. At 15 started wrenching on cars, anything that somone would let me touch. After 20 years woking on cars and loving it, lost my job, came into some money, had a good car to sell, and the rest is history. Bought my dream car and I'm not looking back. God bless America!

Although the 07 is not my first Corvette it is my first brand new Corvette. We are all fortunate to have realized our dreams. This makes some of the BS discussed on the forum seem not so important. Something I think a lot of people do not understand is I own this car for me, not to impress anyone or knock anyone for that matter. What else is there do do when the weather is so crappy but talk about corvettes.
