Update for all those wanting to know about the NAV system updates - there is a new disc for the system. It came out about 2 months ago. It is GM part number 15932106. The "version" of the disc that you have is irrelevant - if it is not this exact part number, your disc is out of date. Your dealer will not know anything about it - and even if they do, they will charge you for obtaining the disc. Mine told me to obtain it directly from the production facility. You can order it directly from GM at their "Navigation System" hotline - (877) 628-3472. They will take your VIN and see if you are still eligible for the "2 free updates" from when you purchased your C6 (this benefit is listed directly on the window sticker). If you are still eligible, they ship it to you UPS. If not, you'll have to pay for it, and it is quite expensive.
New updates should be available each fall from now on (around 10/1 or so).

Happy Vette-ing, All!
The only aspect of your post that I disagree with is that the version of the Nav disc is irrelevant. The current shipping version of the disc is version 3.0. 2005 owners received version 1.0 and there are differences between the two. Why would you say this is not relevant? The disc updates are $199 to anyone who is not eligible for the free upgrades (two).
Thanks for the ifo- I checked my Nav. and it's #15779679 and I called and they said the owner before me ordered the newer Nav. and the would send me out another free but thet I used up the option to recieave later ones. Is that right and thank you so much!
I said the versions were irrelevant because each separate version has a unique part number. The folks at GM informed me that they don't track anything by "version" - they track it by part number. The part number I listed is the most current, according to GM. It may well be "version 3.0," but that isn't how they deal with it, and it is not what you should be asking for when calling to obtain the disc.
As to the other post concerning the correct disc being obtained by the previous owner of the car, you should contact that person directly and have him/her turn over the disc to you - no reason to use up your allotment of "free" discs.
I received the new DVD about 3 months ago. There wasn't much difference betweenn Ver 3.0 (PN 15932106) and 2.0 it replaced other than most of my sub-division streets are now named/displaying.
I would'nt call it a major upgrade, in fact I'm disappointed. Just glad I got it as one of my 2 "free" DVD's.
I just called the GM Navigation Center and the part number listed by the original poster is in fact the current disk Version 3 PN15932106. However, this disk was released last Aug/Sept. The next new update will be Aug/Sept this year. I had the GM Nav Center check and I am current.
This is just another benefit of this forum. I purchased my '06 from a private party, and would not have known about this except for this post. I called the number, and after taking my name and address, the disk is on its way.
I've got a 2005 and bought version 3 for 199 bucks. It was like throwing money down a rat hole. Geeezzzzz--e
You are not going to see much difference between versions. The only differences you will see are (1) new streets, and (2) corrections and additions that were left off of previous versions by miskake.
You probably won't notice any change until you really need it. Like when you get to a new street that was not available on your old disk.

I went up to my sister-in-law's house over Christmas. The housing development she's in has been there for more than 2 years now, but it's still not in Version 3 of the DVD Nav.
If you put the DVD Nav discs in your computer and explore the files, all the data files are dated about April - Version 2 is April 2005; Version 3 is April 2006. I agree that I can't tell much difference between V1, V2, and V3 for the areas I've driven in.
So, I guess they upgrade the data files in about April every year, and the next version of the disc is probably available later in the summer.
go to google. seach "CorvetteMapDisk3.0.iso" without the quotations of course.
your welcome
By the way, i'm not responsible for what you do with it or for the file itself, after all, this all for educational and evaluational purposes. Of course, Your going to buy the disk right after you try it!!!!
Two free updates come with the system. You should get a postcard shortly before your 1st anniversary of purchase. Their website states that the 2 updates are based on the purchase date of vehicle. Example Car purchased June 06 1st update June 07. 2nd will be June 08.

The people compiling the database are not doing an adequate job IMO. My street has been having mail delivered on for over four years now and it's still not shown in the new disk.
Who do we send our complaints to on this issue?
All of the businesses in the US know where I live and they get their data from the National US Postal Service database. Does every business use this database except the NAV manufacturer?
