After I got home today, I went out to the shop and checked the brake pedal. It was fully up. I then checked the clutch pedal. It was NOT fully up....it was probably an inch or so down from the stop at the top of its swing. I will take it out and see if it returns to the top or if I have a different problem than the cruise control afoot...literally.
I have a '06 and if the computer senses something going wrong with the drive train it disables the cc. You might have to go to the dealer and have them connect the service analyizer and reset the fault. Mine onle did this once, but I did have the cc disconnect out on the freeway while I was driving for no reason. Good luck.
After pulling the clutch pedal up in the shop, I took the car out for a drive. The cruise control works as intended complete with DIC message. Thank you all who helped with ideas and posts. Good on ya Mates!
The clutch peddle should have a dual action spring to help it return to it's stop. Check to make sure it is in place and is not broke. There's been a few posts about them snapping and falling down on the floor.
No, there's no light on the instrument panel showing the cruise control is on. That's a mistake in the manual.
That error was deleted from the 2006 and 2007 owner's manuals.
JimTN,
Thanks for your answer on the cruise control light. I probably should not have interrupted Catalyze' thread...I'm new at this and still getting the hang of the forum etiquette. But This forum is great...
Before I go to the dealer, I would rather make sure that I am not being foolish with my Cruise Control. It doesn't seem to work on our 2007 coupe. Going down the road at 70 mph, I move the switch on the left steering wheel stalk from "0" to "1". Then I push in on the end of the stalk (with the cruise control symbol) to set the speed. Nothing happens. There is no speed retention, no symbol on the dash or DIC saying it is now functioning. I did not find a fuse in the fuse housing under the hood that was labeled for it in case it was blown. Is there something that I have failed to understand in operating it? I read the manual but I have been known to be an idiot when let lose with instructions. TIA
Look under the carpet on the passenger side for additional fuses.
I just experience this failure of the cruise control to engage today. I was wondering about the clutch micro switch.
With the car off and head down close to the pedals, I can here the brake pedal micro switch click when I barely press the pedal with my hand. I cannot hear the micro switch click on the clutch. I'm curious if those with working cruise can hear the clutch micro switch.
I'd probably take to the dealer anyway, but it would be nice to give them a place to start.
My issue turned out to be an intermittant clutch micro-switch. The cruise control thought the clutch was alway engaged. Dealer R & R'd the switch and it's all good now.
