Default Nav. question

On the nav, if you ask to see icons to be displayed on the screen then how do you get them off while traveling, also how do you shut the nav. System off while driving so she will stop talking. I found if I push the memory seat button the Nav. Will go off , is this how it works. Thanks it's 06

To turn points of interest (POI), press the speaker button at the top left and say "POI Off"...and to turn them back on, say "POI On"...

You can only turn "Wanda" thru the menu buttons...

Or you can double tap the screen, select POI and select turn off POIs. Or you can zoom out past 1/2 miles and they'll disappear.

That's my method, I like to see more of the map anyway.

For the most part I use the same technique, but as I zoom in from the 1/2 mile range suddenly street names that weren't being displayed now display. So in town I use the 1/4 setting but out on the interstate I'll pull it back to the 1/2 range.

There's a lot hidden in this puppy and most folks (including me) will never uncover all it's capabilities.

To turn the voice off you can also press the voice recognition button and say "Voice Guidance Off" and you will still have the map and still get turn info in the hud but no spoken directions. To turn it back on press the voice recognition button and say "Voice Guidance On". As an alternate if you want them on but softer you can press the voice button and say "Softer"

Softer: This command will cause the system to
decrease the volume of the navigation voice
prompts.

Louder: This command will cause the system to
increase the volume of the navigation voice
prompts.

Voice Guidance Off: This command will cause
the system to turn off the navigation voice prompts
if a destination has been set.

Voice Guidance On: This command will cause
the system to turn on the navigation voice prompts.

Great info!

Now if it would only create better directions. In central Florida, they suck . I used it to map from home to Cedar Key and back. Tried different route options and none were very direct. My Garmin Zumo I use on my bikes and truck is much better.
