I was going to purchase a GMPP. I was reading about the coverage on the GMPP. It states that shocks are not covered. Does anyone know if that includes the F55 shocks? If not does anyone know how much an F55 Shock costs?
I am pretty sure I will still purchase the GMPP, I just need to decide how long I am going to keep the car. Advice would be welcome.
Don't know the cost of the shock, but it is not covered. Don't know who you are getting the GMPP through but I would check the prices through Dennis Fichtner first. Shoot him an email at gmpp@fichtnerchevrolet.com Good luck.
depending on the dealer you are able to get the f55 shocks covered under the high tech components of the major gaurd protection plan. it is all up to the dealer how the want to cover it, but it can be done

Jeff,
I think the F55 shock replacement under warranty is going to come down to the type of failure and if it can be determined it wasn't from wear, i.e. very low mileage etc as the warranty doesn't cover wear items which the typical shock absorber is classified as. The F55 shocks are supposed to be designed "for the life of the car". There have been one or two noted failures here on the forum but I believe these to be tails of the distribution and not indicative of inherent reliability. I did a quick look on Gene's GMpartshouse.com site and the shocks seem to cost around $485.58 each. If you look to the last generation MSRC system in use on the 2003's I don't know of any failures as described here on the forum, while that's not to say there haven't been some, it does not seem to be an epidemic. Hope this helps. FWIW, I'll be adding a GMPP on my '05 this year whether or not it covers my F55 shocks.
