Default race deck noise?

I'm finally thinking of putting race deck down in my '06 C6 home. I have several pieces down now as an experiment. (6 to be exact) they seem to pop and snap a lot when I walk on them. Kind of like a quieter version of that plastic packing material that you pop the bubbles on.
Can anyone give me their personal take on the noise once installed in the whole garage? Love the product. Looks very durable and cleanable. Not sure I can live with that much noise. thanks in advance for any input.

I've had mine down for almost two years and have enver had any popping or snapping. You do get the sound of walking on hard plastic but it is not offendable to me.

My Race Deck was installed in May 2004. Absolutely no offensive, loud popping noises. Guess that I walk lightly...

You know, it's kind of like chocolate and vanilla, you either hate or love the sound. I hate it. I put mine down two years ago and have never gotten used to the sound of hollow plastic every time I walk on it. None of my buddies mind it at all, but, when I move later this year, it will be a painted (like racedeck) garage floor for me.

Just my opinion.

There is a sound when walking on the Racedeck...even my cat makes a sound when walking on it. The sound doesn't bother me though. Whenever I have the garage door open, passersby make a lot of positive comments on the garage floor...moreso than the Vette!

I installed the pergo foam underpayment because of a fear of a "noisy" floor. My friend installs his without and I can’t tell the difference, they are both quiet

I did mine 2 years ago, about 1,000 sq ft. You do hear a slight "plastic" noise while walking on it. I would rather not have that noise but it's trivial compared to the benefits. It's non-pourus so it cleans really well, impervious to petroleum products (that's good!), looks fantastic. The only problem I see is when using a hydraulic jack. You must rest the jack wheels on a board or a scrap piece of Racedeck to prevent indentations to the floor. Same wth jackstands. Again, that's minor compared to all of the benefits.

No popping or snapping with over 600 sq feet of RD:

But it does sound like your walking on a "plastic" floor.

thank for the input. I don't think I want to put down under layment because of the snow and water up here in Wisconsin. But, I think I will go ahead. sounds like once it is all in, it won't "pop" which was my main concern.

I love the floor--but do think if that "hollow" sound bugs you--go with the foam membrane, I think it makes a difference. Would agree with pipe, either option works--if you are looking for total silence, go with paint or leave it a' natural'.

I also have a Race Deck floor and get the "plastic" sound with it. Also, the concrete will always have some small about of surfact variation therefore the plastic tiles will move up/down a little as you walk on them. I was going to put an underlayment down before I installed them but the Race Deck Rep I purchased from advised me not to do that as the tiles do expand/contract some with tem/humidity changes. Putting them on an underlayment then the tiles would not "slide" on the floor to allow for the little bit of movement they will make. I have noticed on hot/humid days when the door is open for extended periods of time and the sunlite is on them, the tiles do expand as I have experienced some buldging at the seems....once the temp goes down and no sunlight on them, they lay back down and are fine. I don't really care for the noise, but I also love the look and benefit of them so I can put up with what I call "the walking sound"...!
