Default 2007 Vette with 63 split

What I really want is a C6 Z51 with all the goodies but with a 63 split window body on it. I really love the 63 styling but want all the refinments of the new models with heated seats, power, handling, nav, etc., etc. Any suggestions on how this would be best accomplished? Start with the 63 and upgrade or start with 2007 and change body. Anyone every heard of this being done. Who is best to contact about this type of project car?

Mickey

I have heard of a '53 body placed on a C5 frame, but no '63-'67 Stingray bodies on later platforms.

First, I would cash in my 401K & IRA accounts, mortgage my house to the hilt. Then contact Chip Foose or Boyd Coddington. Should have your dream car in about a year.

Alternative is to have Jesse James do it on Monster Garage. Should take about a week (one episode).

Check out the April 07 issue of corvette magazine. There's a 67 with a LS7 engine and all the ZO6 frame and suspension.

would be cheaper to get a 63 and a C6, best of both worlds rather than ruin a 63 or C6

Well with a lot of money, you stick the problem on the wall and throw money at it till you can't see it anymore!

Someone photoshopped a '63 style split window on an '05 and posted it here.
Looked like azz.

There was a company at the Houston Corvette Expo the past two years that manufactures and sells frames based loosely upon a C5/C6 frame that will hold a C5/C6 suspension and drive train and a C1 body. Modern engineering under a classic body. Very, very . I think they said the total cost to have someone else do all of the work was $125,000-ish, but a do-it-yourselfer could buy all of the parts for much less.

If you can dream it, someone can build it. The C2s wheelbase is 98inches, the C6 is a little over 105. The C2s width is around 69.5, the C6s is over 72. They are both around 175 inches long, but that measurement includes the C2s bumpers, so subtract a few inches if you were just measuring the body.
So length wise and width wise you could probably make it work, the wheelbase is were things would get tricky in the looks department. My guess is you’d be looking at a custom tube frame chassis using C6s suspension components, and sticking to the C2s wheelbase measurment. Though I doubt it would ever handle as well as a C6.
Cost wise, I bet you’d be looking over 125K (C2 body, C6 suspension, Z06 engine ((hey why not)), wiring, heated seats, nav system, labor, etc.). In the end it would probably be considered a custom rod with a Corvette body. It would no doubt be cool, but a lot of folks are going to look at it, shake their head, and ask why. If you have the answer, go for it.

The folks at the Houston show are:
http://www.corvettecorrection.com/

I think they only support a C1 conversion now. Not sure about C2, and definately not C3. It's a new frame with C4 or C5 suspension parts, LSX engine. LSX = LS1, LS2, LS6, LS7

There were 2 custom C5s at the show. I didn't take any photos, but I'm sure someone out there did. One was an '04 CE Vert that had a maroon '53-type body. There was also a beige '62-type body on a C5 chassis. It's all new skin and chrome except for the gas door. (Maybe a few other parts - top, windshield). Both were incredible, but big $$$, and definately had a slightly squatty, wide look to them. If I had unlimited funds, would be something to think about. I heard the '53 mod was done someplace in Michigan.

my choice would be a '67 427 style stinger hood body. But the tires were so small back then compared to now among other things. The '65 396 hood /body is really nice too but actually I'd have to say that I think the C6 Z06 is the best looking vette ever built. Of course, it is also far and away the fastest and best handling not to mention ....well the list is very long isn't it? I wish I could/would afford one.

Maybe the photoshop would look better if the paint matched. May not look too bad but what badge would one put on it. Z63 ?????

The more I read and think about the endless funds which I don't have, maybe I should do what someone suggested and get a 2007 to enjoy AND get a 63. Enjoy each as they are.........

There is a C5 based 62 replica available. The company is out of Washington. Here's what it looks like.
