We've had my wife's '05 C6 (our first Corvette) for a month now and have realized we don't have the lug locking key nor the 4 standard lugs removed from the car. Previous owner says they were in a bag in the car, the dealership agrees, but say they must have removed them during cleaning and nobody can find them.
The problem is my wife don't like the locking lugs so we know what that means
Are these lug nuts special or ?? We have competition grey wheels.
Anybody have 4 matching that we can purchase, or are they available at a GM dealership??

Thanks, Bob
I would suggest black lug nuts for Comp. Grey wheels. You can puchase them from "McGard."
Any good tire shop or local thief can get them off.
There is a 'socket' that has a cone shaped taper inside, no hex-nut shape. This is lightly tapped onto the locking lub nut with a hammer, then a braker bar turns it off.
I got a set taken off at a local alignment shop, they had the special 'socket'.

Two different places, a tire shop and my dealer, had no problem getting past the locks to fix my two flats. They never even asked me if I had the key and I was sitting there waiting...

Hmmm, and I was thinking about spending the 27 bucks for the McGard wheel lock kit. Maybe I'll save my money and put that towards a 3/4 tank of gas.
Posted this response under "My New Wheels", repeated here.
Lot's of people say that wheel locks are of little use because thiefs can defeat them with a socket that works like an easy out and grabs on the outer surface of the lock. While this is true, that socket has to be driven home with a heavy hit of a hammer so it digs into the lock. Making noise is something that thiefs avoid so they can get away with this in the dead of night. Not saying that wheel locks would have prevented this but it would have made it more difficult and you might have heard those four hammer hits.
I watched the guy remove mine. I moderate tap with a hammer is all it took. 'Socket' aganist the locking nut, tapped the 1/2 inch extension, there was very little noise. The socket doesn't dig into the nut, it is just seated on there and friction does the rest. The locking nuts were not damaged.
