All the captree boys have the B&M and we are 95% happy. One has the Hurst and he is 95% unhappy.
I agree with Ed.....I love my B&M. The only guy I know with a Hurst likes the shifter but hates alll the noise and rattling, even after stuffing the base with foam.
I recently put in a B&M shifter in my '07 and absolutely love the feel of the shifter, no rattles or vibrations, much more precise and shorter shifts, and I was able to re use the stock shift ****, if you are thinking about it - DO IT!
I'm looking for an upgrade to my 06' C6 shifter. Always feels to me like it almost won't go into the next gear smoothly. This is especially noticeable when it's cold out. Most of you seem to really like the B&M shifter. Any hints as to where the best place to get one is, and is there a specific model? Thanks. Rick B
The ZO6 shift **** ratlles in my ZO6 under moderate acceleration, I mean it sounds like a rattle snake, no fix yet from GM and several other ZO6 owners have reported the shift **** ratttle. Don't know if you'll have the same problem in the C6 shoud go opt fot the ZO6 shifter, just a heads up
a short shifter will make it worse.... i put in royal purple to cure my shifting troubles..... then i changed the shifter.....
do a search on "syncromax" lots of info out there.... (good and bad)
i had a B&M and it was a nice short throw.... little hard to get into reverse and missed third once in a while.....
WOT buzzing once in a while too....
the Z06 throw is between stock and a B&M.... for me i did the change so reverse was like stock.... i do miss third once in a while (guess thats just driver error).....
i may change back to the B&M but i am going to use the Z06 base this time around..... (even shorter throw)

corvettes of houston has a good deal on the B&M, changing the transmission fluid to a good synthetic like royal purple synchromax also helps smoothen the shifts especially when cold. Side note royal purple synchromax does not have the GM designation, royal purple Max does b/c it is a dexron III oil. I like many others on the forum, went with the synchromax b/c it is specifically made for manual transmissions, no problems here, shifts are much smoother.

Simply changing out the clutch fluid smoothed out my cold shifting some. Worth the $4 try anyway.

GM has sent me an email that a fix for the shifter rattle will be released in the next month or two.

It does rattle a bit in my C6; not too badly. The main difference seems to be the bushings, the C6 shifter mounts on rubber bushings where the Z06 shifter has solid metal. It would probably be pretty easy to make some metal inserts, and much cheaper than a new shifter.
I hope GM's fix for the rattle isn't the rubber bushings, because the Z06 shifter is a lot more precise feeling!
I just installed a B&M shifter and it's great. It's not exactly harder to shift, just feels more firm. Also a bit notchier, but nice and short. For me I dont think it will do anything in the way of performance, but it feels cool anyways.
