Default Friendly Tip as we head into Spring....

Many you have your C6's out and about already, but for us folks in the TROPICS
Corvettes are just starting to hit the roads, you may find your indexing window does not INDEX.

Just comes from sitting, loss of power. make sure there is juice and car is running. Here is how you can save yourself a trip to the service dept.

While car is running and door is closed, put power window down, all the while holding the button down for 10 secs even though the window is down already, then pull he window button up and after window is up, DON'T STOP..hold it in that up position for 10 secs....
.
.
.
open and close the door, she should index for you fine and dandy.

When it doesn't it could cause air and water leaks, if it gets stuck in the up position, you could crack the window...
Just a small heads up because I see a lot of this around this time of the year. I want you all out there enjoying Corvette season to teh fullest!

Good info. - that happens here more often than you might think. Someone usually asks about this about once every couple of weeks.

Not sure where the "engine running" and "10 seconds" came from.

As per the Service Manual:

Power Window Reinitialization
The reinitialization of the power windows will be necessary anytime a door module has been disconnected, replaced, or the vehicles battery has been disconnected or discharged. The power window will be reinitialized when the door module learns the full up and full down positions.

To reinitialize a power window:

Close the door for the window being reinitialized.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Run the window to the full up position and hold the switch continuously for a minimum of 0.5 seconds.
Run the window to the full down position and hold the switch continuously for a minimum of 0.5 seconds.

The engine running is real world so the guys don't leave the car in ACC mode...the 10 secs is to assure the process works....

Trying it for less many times does not achieve the result you want, so just using stuff I have in the past that works and does not still having you scratch your head as to why it's not working is all.....

thinking outside the box and believe me, with GM sometimes you have to! Thanks!

Be advised those instructions don't agree with the owner's manual. Owner's manual says 3 seconds and doesn't include the part about lowering the window.

I guess if you have an owner's manual, you'd probably do it one way, but if you have both manuals, maybe you could average them.

Incredible. A guy can't even give a piece of well meaning advice without being criticized. I don't get it.

Thanks for the info Rick-
Saved me the trouble of having to dig out the manual in a couple of weeks when the C6 comes back out of storage, here in "tropical" Wisconsin.
