Default FOB Question

My AO Coupe is being built this week, so I have a lot of questions bouncing around my in head. This may seem silly, but here goes:

If your motor is running in the driveway and you need to go back into the house to get something, is it necessary to leave the FOB in the car while the motor is running, or does the FOB leaving the car while running have no effect? Thanks.

Jim

It is not necessary to leave the FOB. The car will remain running with the Fob out of range, it will not start however if it were to shut off until the Fob comes back into range. You are better off taking it with you.

You never leave your fob in the car !!!! And leaving a vette running is not such a great idea !! But yes you can and it will not need the fob. good luck and and have fun.

i wish it would lock itself when the fob is no longer in range, even when it's running. that way one could go get the mail, etc. without any worries of someone stepping in behind and driving away.

Default you don't need fob, BUT.....

When I had my tires replaced, the tech brought the car around to me. It had been running for the alignment for as a new owner, I didn't know how to Unlock the steering wheel any other way. While I was inside, paying for my purchase, the tech in my car used his cell phone to call the front desk and ask me how to exit the vehicle? The Service Manager had the FOB in his pocket with me in the store, and the the tech was locked in my car. Neither door would open, although you could roll the windows down ( or excape via the rear hatch). I'm a trained professional. don't try this at home!

There is an emergency door release to your left on the floor on the drivers side and to your right on the floor on the passenger side. It looks like this. Reach down and pull up. If the door is locked, this is your only way out of the vehicle without the Fob.

Yup, pull the latch or put the window down and crawl out...

Ask your insurance company about leaving FOB in car.

Not true. Just press the unlock button on the door panel and the doors will unlock.

I don't agree with you. If the Fob has left the vehicle and you leave a passenger inside and the car is set to auto lock, once the vehicle "shuts down" and auto locks, I don't believe the unlock button will work. Now I need to try it.

Seems to work on my car. My C6 is programmed to passively lock. My daughter stood outside near the door with the fob while I got in the car & shut the door. She walked back in the house with the fob and the DRLs flashed, indicating the car was locked.

With my daughter about 30 feet away, inside the house with the fob, I was able to unlock the door with the unlock button on the door, then opened the door, and got out.

Sometimes I start mine and let it warm up in the driveway. I just put the car in neutral and keep the fob in my pocket. Of course I live in the country and my driveway goes behind the house, so no one would ever see it sitting there.

If the car has been shut off and the doors are closed, anyone in the car cannot open the door without the fob being in range. Unless that person knows where the emergency door handle is next to the seats. In a vert, simply rotating the top latch handle drops the windows.
