My wife is over there now with the 25ID from Schofield here in Hawaii, she is in Kirkuk. Naw BB didnt give Hood that name. It was already called that prior to my first trip there in 1987.
I was at at FOB Normandy in OIF I, about 60 NE of Baghdad. I was at Kirkuk for about 8 months as a contractor in 2005. It wasnt too bad up there. Seems like I cant get away from that country. The heat durring the summer there always amazes me. I dont know how we made it without AC in OIF I. I always thought BB was the one that started calling Ft. Hood "The Great Place" Learn something new every day. I was only about 6 years old back in 87 ha ha so that was well before my time. (Not trying to make you feel old) I work with a lot of retired guys now as a civilian here at Hood. Life is pretty good these days. (I have a vette now) I would have to say the Army was good to me. I'm proud of the time I served and I'm thankful for where it has taken me. When I was a kid (even more so than I am now) I never imagined how things would be or the things I would do by this point in my life.
