Default E-Brake Boot replacement

I am trying to remove the E-Brake handle so that I can replace the boot but I can't figure how to get the release button removed. The handle itself is released by removing a phillips screw, which is easy, but the top release button is something else. Any tips would be helpful.

It just pulls off, if you can't get it like that, pull the boot down remove the screw and slide the handle up and the button will pop off

Yep, remove the screw then simply pull. The handle and button will both release...

I just had this same issue, after the screw is off, pull it off as hard as possible and it will pop off. Got this advise from the forum here and it worked!!!

This is what I did too, (installing some VetteEssentials goodies) but "simple" would not be the word I would use. I had to pull VERY VERY HARD and the button was like a ballistic missle when it finally gave way.

Thanks for all the tips guys. It finally came off with lots of hard tugging as suggested. That's what's nice about this forum - friends helping friends; great to be part of this group.
