Having your C6 painted
Ok dumb question but looking a few years down the road i can see entertaining the thought of changing colors. Any negatives? Has anyone priced what a new paint job would be? Just curious.

True Chicago Story: Two attorney brothers bet each other something. One lost and had to buy the other a Purple C6 Z06. I guess this was their idea of a twisted victory.
I heard this, and, "yeah, yeah, funny story."
A week later, I was at D&M Corvette in downers Grove, Illinois and mentioned the story. They smiled, and invited me in back.
To my surprise, there was the f***ing purple Z06. All taken apart, still taped up. It was eggplant purple...about as dark as the LMB...just purple.
He said it cost about 8k if memory serves. Though he said the pricing depends on the paint color. Some of the vette colors are two or three stage, and they are a b*tch to match or paint.

between 5 and 10 for a job done right. One of the showcar owners that I sponsor who does Hot Import Night and the like of car shows has a 350z roadster on order that is going to be unloaded from the truck at the dealer and going straight to the body shop to install a widebody kit (already bought) and custom antifreeze green paint and its estimated at 20k.

No one can paint like the factory. A repainted car, especially an expensive car, will take about a $6000 hit, plus the cost of the paint job. It does not make sense to paint a car unless the original is giving you a problem.
C6 is too new to re-paint.

Get with JB666 on this forum, he post in the C5Z06 section, and he just had his Z totaly repainted to a diffrent color and the results were great. I believe he spent alot of money on it, but the shop that painted it done it right. Here is the link to it with lots of pictures..
