Floor/cargo mats, front license brkt and splash guards are the only mods my C6 will ever see. Ten years of working at a Honda dealership (service department) turned me off to aftermarket products.
I have an 08 on pre-order (first vette beyond a C2) but it's going to be a tough decision for me. I've spent 30 years de-modifying C2 cars to bring them back to "original". I recently spent ten bucks at a swap meet for a 3/8 bolt with correct head markings for the distributor hold down that you can't see anyway, crazy. I want to feel "free" when I get my 08 and do some changes but I know the voice in my head will lay a guilt trip on me. I need therapy.
If you mod up your '08, just think of the pleasure you're giving some guy 30 years from now as he searches around for OEM parts!
After doing a fair amount of mods on my '97, (wheels, exhaust, intake, hash mark stripes, engine appearance, and interior enhancements) I plan to leave the '05 basically stock. I've added the 3M protection and a Shopman front license bracket and that will probably be it. I, like others, do care about the resale aspect and to convert everything back to stock when selling/trading is doable but then you still have parts to resell, etc. I guess the biggest turn-off for me about the modding is that after awhile they all start to look the same and the exclusivity is lost. Some of the performance mods can also affect driveability, also, and I just don't want to deal with that. The biggest mod I am still on the fence with is exhaust; I would like a somewhat more aggressive sound, but is it worth $1,500 to me? My next purchase will likely be a C7, and I plan to keep the three I now have, so $ saved will lessen the amount needed in a few years. I enjoy looking at the modded cars, but not enough for me to pull the trigger and do it again.

Agreed. I had to look it up again. That's how long ago. I am on the fence mod wise. The car is really good stock although too quiet. I think some mufflers or an STS TT kit instead of mufflers...
Just wondering how many of You who check out this "Corvette Forum" of Ours are planning on keeping Your vettes"bone stock"?!
It seems as though anyone who is on this forum on a daily basis is bound to "mod" Thier vette one day!
I think it's hard not to see all this Horsepower #'S and whatnot, and not want to "Mod" Your vette!
Thanks,George
I have kept my engine bone stock but have done numerous appearance mods.......
this way i am still able to make the statement ,that i have ............
..."The Most Powerful Stock Corvette ever produced for retail production in the world on this Planet"..........
with more than a million corvettes already produced with less stock power I now understand why people have modified there engines and can sympathize with their reasoning .....I am a very humble person as 1bdasvt can attest to
