Is it possible to take out the standard unit and put in the navigation one in?
Here are a few threads that have looked at this. Short answer, probably doable but not easy and not likely cost effective. If you want Nav at this point, I'd recommend going the aftermarket route.
Actually I really dont want Navigation, I just want a touch screen cd/dvd that looks and fits really nice.
That's an even bigger argument for aftermarket then. The OEM Nav unit will not play DVD's. The DVD slot is for the Nav disc only. You would still need to send it out to a third party to have modifications made to accept the input from yet another DVD player drive mounted elsewhere in the car. No one has been successful at making the factory unit read and play a DVD. Have a look at the Pioneer family of units. They make double din units with and without Nav that play cd/dvd with a touch screen.
In the wifes 2007 C6 i run the Avic D2, with a DVD Player in the rear compartment. The Pioneer Avic D-2 has built in Nav and is a Double Din Unit. In my 2005 C6 I went with the Kenwood DDX-7015 Touch Screen. No Nav but has built in DVD Player and allows for a rear view camera output. The Kenwood is also a Double Din Unit.
