Default Tan Convertable Top Durability?

A vert is on my radar screen. Debating colors currently, but one thing I am curious about.

How well does the tan top weather in regards to dirt and other environmental elements like the inevitable bird bomb.

No problems with my '06 MR, cashmere power top here.
But, then again I dont drive her when the birds are flying..
Apply RaggTop liberally and never, NEVER park under trees or street lights...

I haven't had any problems yet. I think all three colors will show dirt and stains if you don't maintain them properly. Just keep them clean and treated with Ragg Top.

I haven't had any problems with light colored convertible tops. My '01 vert had a light oak top and the '07 has a beige one. Also, my Camaro has a white vinyl top. The Raggtopp product is recommended by major convertible top manufacturer, so that's what I use. Be sure to buy the kit: http://www.autogeek.net/rafaca.html

Ragtopp works great, but here is a hint:

Mask off your windows and bodywork when applying it - it is a BEAR to get off the windows when it dries. Luckily once a year seems to be enough for good protection.

No problems with mine. They clean up very easily. I use car wash soap and a dedicated sponge everytime I wash the car. Rinse well and let dry fully before lowering the top. I have had motor oil spilled on the top and was able to remove it with lighter fluid followed by a wash.

I`ve had on my 00 C5 silver with black top - no problems, allways look clean!!!
In 02 I bought a black C5 with beige top and after two years the top had some spots so I allways would prefer a black top.

I take very good care of my cars and the next C6 I`ll buy will have a black one!

Like others have said no problems with beige top. I park at my nursery and there are lots of birds.....you know what happens. Just stop by car wash on way home and use spot free rinse no problems with staining.

Have the Ragg Top kit but have not applied the protectant yet. Cleaner works very well.

Seems creases from folding top down so much show up more on light tops but not that big of a problem.

Go for it!! Looks great on MR, LMB or AO.

cashm top :

plusses: looks cool on some colors

minus: shows dirt/age more, resale tougher, you may tire of its looks sooner than a black top

choose wisely, if you plan for 1-2 years ownership maybe, long haul owner-I pass.

I am on my 2nd vette w/tan top...advice: Get BLACK and don't let anybody talk you out of it! Tan shows dirt and creases worse than black. BLACK looks awesome w/ all colors and is far less maintenance intensive...

Have you ever seen a older tan color top that looked fresh and clean looking. Most look like they were dragged in the dirt and have lines and darK marks on them.

I had a tan top on my 03. After three years it looked as good as new. Traded the car off so I am unable to share any info beyond that.
