So I go to fill my tank...premium was $2.75...so I figure get it before price goes higher. I think I turned too hard to remove the cap. When I went to place cap back on...it won't tighten...it just clicks and will not attach. I can twist all I want , but the cap justs falls off!! Why did it break? Did I do something wrong?
I had the same problem. A forum member suggested to lightly pull up on the cap before you turn it to put it on. You will hear it click and it is secure. I first notice this when the DIC said for mte to check gas cap.
The suggestion worked. I use this method every time and it works. Too bad the Chevy folks don't pass on this info. It would save alot of us going to the dealer and a lot of money for GM.
Had mine replaced by the dealer under warranty at 5,000 miles.
It would not click and lock. New one came in and it was missing the little plastic stud that holds it in place. Service manager had the mechanic take one off the showroom floor. Ok now....
