Default Z-51 Pkg

I am looking at buying a new C6 auto coupe.
What do you C6 owners think of the Z-51 pkg.
What is the main difference?
I will not be driving it on the track, so is it worth buying?
What is the Performance tune listed?

This is what the add notes for the Z-51 Pkg:
INCLUDES:LARGER CROSS-DRILLED
BRAKE ROTORS,PERFORMANCE-TUNED:
TIRES, STABILIZER BARS,SPRINGS,
SHOCKS)

i hear tires are softer and wear out around 10-15K, is this true?
THX

On my '05, I had to replace the Supercar EMTs in the rear at 11,000 miles ant the fronts at 14,000 miles. Just normal driving, no track time.

Threads about the Z51 handling package VS any other suspension frequently get heated and have to be locked.

Here are some threads to help you decide, and to explain what I'm talking about.

If you do this

Get the Z51, if not any of the other suspension packages will be just fine.

BTW I have 7700 miles on my car to include track time and my tires look like I have OVER half of tread left. I'm guessing I'll get over 15K (2 years and 3 HSDE's) from the tires. That's pretty good for what I'm doing with the car.

There's more to than that. Alignment problems, air pressure? Mine have over 14,000 miles and I'm looking for over 30,000 total miles before I replace them. It has the Z51 package and I would buy it again.

Isn't the Z-51 package going to have the Z06 exhaust for 08?

Would that make more of want the Z-51 package?

Thanks
Do you know if the compound used in the tires is softer?
This may cause them to wear quicker.

Default Get the F55

I got my 007 MN6 2LT Coupe delivered Oct 2nd, have almost 8k miles (driving it "part time") and love the F55 Selective Ride control package(includes the same Z51 brakes, with sway bars betwwen stock and z51)
NOTE that the shocks are "state of the art" GM's offered em for the last 5 years ... Ferrari, on their brand new F599 just got around to installing em. Audi too, on 2 sport models.

There's a reason why they're superior - its (virtually) INSTANTANEOUS feedback. No more light unloading on whoop-de-doos, decrease lean and more supple ride than base or Z51.

drive all 3 then decide!

I had a Z06 with GY Supercar Tires and only got 12,000 out of them. I have 5,000 on my current tires and they still look fresh.

My '05 Z51 has 10,800 miles on it and the tires still look great. I expect to get at least another 10,000 miles out of them.

I keep my tire pressures at 30 and the alignment is good (recently checked). Mine gets alot of freeway miles. Way too many road trips.

I did not say I would not buy the Z51 again.

There are more low milage reports out there than high milage like you're reporting.

I got the Z51 package on my daily driver because I like the feel of the flatter cornering provided by that suspension and would like to track the car a few times, but have not yet done so.

The reference to performance-tuned brakes means slightly smaller pistons in the rear calipers for better balanced braking front to rear on a road course.

The tread wear rating for the Good Year Supercar tires that come with the Z51 pkg is 220, vs. 320 for the base GS-2's, so it is a softer compound. I have 7,700 miles on my Supercars with lots of tread left, and believe I am on track to get about 20,000 out of them. That is what I expect since I got about 30,000 out of the base GS tires on my C5, which had a similar tread wear rating as the base C6's GS-2's.
