Z-51 Pkg
What do you C6 owners think of the Z-51 pkg.
What is the main difference?
I will not be driving it on the track, so is it worth buying?
What is the Performance tune listed?
This is what the add notes for the Z-51 Pkg:
INCLUDES:LARGER CROSS-DRILLED
BRAKE ROTORS,PERFORMANCE-TUNED:
TIRES, STABILIZER BARS,SPRINGS,
SHOCKS)
i hear tires are softer and wear out around 10-15K, is this true?

Here are some threads to help you decide, and to explain what I'm talking about.

Get the Z51, if not any of the other suspension packages will be just fine.
BTW I have 7700 miles on my car to include track time and my tires look like I have OVER half of tread left. I'm guessing I'll get over 15K (2 years and 3 HSDE's) from the tires. That's pretty good for what I'm doing with the car.

Would that make more of want the Z-51 package?

Do you know if the compound used in the tires is softer?
This may cause them to wear quicker.
NOTE that the shocks are "state of the art" GM's offered em for the last 5 years ... Ferrari, on their brand new F599 just got around to installing em. Audi too, on 2 sport models.
There's a reason why they're superior - its (virtually) INSTANTANEOUS feedback. No more light unloading on whoop-de-doos, decrease lean and more supple ride than base or Z51.
drive all 3 then decide!

I did not say I would not buy the Z51 again.
There are more low milage reports out there than high milage like you're reporting.
The reference to performance-tuned brakes means slightly smaller pistons in the rear calipers for better balanced braking front to rear on a road course.
The tread wear rating for the Good Year Supercar tires that come with the Z51 pkg is 220, vs. 320 for the base GS-2's, so it is a softer compound. I have 7,700 miles on my Supercars with lots of tread left, and believe I am on track to get about 20,000 out of them. That is what I expect since I got about 30,000 out of the base GS tires on my C5, which had a similar tread wear rating as the base C6's GS-2's.
