So I am tooling along on a 200 mile drive today. I am flipping through the trip info button. When I start the drive it reads 58% oil life remaining. After about 150 miles I go through again and it says 99% oil life remaining. I had not stopped or turned off the car. Just driving along at a steady 75-80 on the interstate. Any one have this one happen before? C6A6 @3000 miles. I am changing the oil this weekend but it sure makes me question the indicator.
Someone here reported having the oil life counter reset to 100% when they reset the Elapsed Timer option. Of course, you could have hit the reset button while you were previously displaying the % Oil Life left.
I did reset the elapsed timer. It was running and I reset it to 0 and restarted it to time some mile marker passes. Bet that was it. Wonder how they fix that one? I will let it run down a little and see if I can get a repeat.
Thanks.
I am the guy who posted about this a month ago or so. I had been messing with my elapsed time, resetting it while driving. Next thing I knew, my oil life remaining was 100%! After learning here that it was a common problem, I've stopped using the elapsed time. Oh yeah, I got my oil changed, too!! It speeded up my search for an oil-change place with a driver-over bay.

Because of this thread, while driving today, I decided to reset the elapsed timer to zero and see what happens. Sure enough my oil monitor was also reset to 99%. I wonder if this just happens if you reset while driving. Do all the C6s have this problem? Mine is an '07 automatic.
I think its your car telling you to stop pussyfooting it and drive it harder. Its saying "YAWN!!, at this rate old man you will never have to change my oil". I'd take as a challenge.
Even though it reset, you could give it a few weeks of typical driving and based on how much it goes down in those weeks and milage of your last oil change calculate a good ballpark guess when it would have said to change the oil next.
I tested this today after changing the oil. I put the car in run mode (engine not running) and instead of re-setting the oil life I started the timer and re set the timer a few seconds later. The oil life re-set to 100% by re-setting the timer.

Does GM have a fix for this?

It sounds like for now it's best to leave the timer alone. Maybe GM will have a fix for it before the warranty is up.

See this thread. Just wait 10 seconds before changing to another display
