I have a clear bra material on mine. I had the whole front end done. I haven't noticed any problems with them. I don't drive a night all that much though. I got them done by Mike Mayall in Vegas. 702-940-9831. He is a Pro-Tech Film Distributor here in Vegas. Bluejet had his done by him as well.

A film on the head lamp lens has been know to cause the lens to crack or craze. Yes, it is expensive, so I would not install a film on the lens.

So far mine is fine. I've had the film on the lens for nearly two years with no visible change. I covered them because there are so many gravel trucks here in Vegas and one of them threw a rock and chipped my clear lens. Since then, no more nick's or scratches on my clear headlight lenses.
I guess you have to decide for yourself, road dings in the lens or a possible problem with the above mentioned problem. I chose to cover mine mainly because I had never heard of any problems doing so.
